Ccoop,

I hope that's all it was. I remember your video from a while back; it didn't sound good at all. Has it taken this long for MINI to figure that out?

Yeah sadly it took this long. It took having to have the regional engineer come out for the final repair attempt. The scarier thing was he didn't know anything about control of the car or even how to open the hood (he is basically just for BMWs not MINIs) yet he was still able to tell them what it was exactly before either of the 2 dealers

thats the same BS they fed me the first time. Sure it helped for a little but its back to creaking. not as badly as before but theres definitely some sort of design flaw.

Hmmm...I did see the part tho and the contact portion was bare metal...but 3 times now I have randomly heard a scratch noise with engine off and pumping the clutch. It's too random tho to bother bringing up yet, but will definitely pursue it if it becomes predictable so I can prove it's still there.

How long till yours came back?

Mine too. Or I'll drive this one to failure and go with a clutch masters or Advanced Clutch Technology replacement clutch.

The Getrag is an excellent transmission. But the crap quality clutches and flywheels are something else.

Yeah unfortunately first hand experience of the cheap/weak clutch systems has made me want the auto on my next one as well

I'm waiting for a good aftermarket clutch to become available on the R56. They are available for the R50 and R53, just not yet for the R56. Its only a matter of time before they are available.

Uh-ohhh...the noise was back todayyyy. Was driving all around town today and when I was back at the gfs turned off the car and went to put into gear for parking and all of a sudden noticed the clutch not smooth like it has been. Turned off the radio and pumped the clutch and it sounds worse than before. Put down the window and could hear it as load as before. The difference is the click is fuller now. With both up and down pushes and seems to be smaller clicks, but more of them.

When I came out later on to head home, the noise is gone (just like before after the car cools off). My drive home is only a few miles so not enough time to heat up.

Will see how it goes in the next few weeks. I cannot believe this I really thought it was finally fixed.

Well I contacted my rep at USA and told him it was back and that I plan on continuing the whole lemon process. I'm busy with school and the dragon this month, so the 2nd week of may I go in to have the regional engineer listen to it to confirm it is back and then I'm sure USA will want to come up with an offer before I submit the paperwork. I just want them to get me into another car I am sick of this thing now. I was so happy that it was finally fixed that I didn't even care that I had to waste so much time and gas plus those 3 big drives to a different dealer. Now I'm feed up with my poor car

meh... ive pretty much given up... i hear the creak, its not too loud but its there. My MINI is showing the service light so maybe when i bring it in, ill have them take one last look.

Sadly the car is over a year old so the lemon law will not work. I love the car but there are definitely things i would change on it.

BTW, MINI has 3 years of free service right?

Lemon in cali is only 1 year? It's 2 here in FL.
I just went in yesterday so they could here that it is officially back. We'll see what happens.

Yeah 3 years or 36K miles. Whichever comes first. Also 4 years or 50K miles on the warrantee itself

I cannot believe it. I'm seriously in such shock. They call me back and decide that there is no more they can do and that everything is fine even though they admitted/proved before that it was not.

Hi all,
I bought a 2007 Cooper R56 and it has the same noise as Checkercoop's one. It has 40K km (yes I'm french, and sorry for my bad english by the way).
So, I would like to know if somebody found the solution?
Thanks in advance!

So far the second attempt at relubricating the clutch fork pivot point is working. The first attempt only lasted 3 weeks, the second is lasting 7 so far. Honestly I find it to just be a shoddy patch job, but they will get complaints enough if it comes back again after this. The actual parts are hardened steel, so no wear was found on them to replace. The only good thing is if the clutch ever goes out on me, I will laugh at them if they try and hand me a bill haha
