Misfiring

16000 miles on my r56 and I'm getting engine misfires, and it won't start. My dealership has had it since last friday, and just now (tuesday) figured out it was a misfire problem.

lol. I laughed. Said, greeeeeeat. I'm trusting my car to a computer that has no clue what it's doing.

any consoling words? lol. I'm a little cynical over the situation. I have other cars to drive, my m6 and range rover are in working order.

I just find it amusing that the dealership has no idea, admittedly, what to do about it. they're "allegedly" on the phone with the engineers in england to fix it.

I'll believe it when I see it. lol

That is so funny. My mcs has the exact same problems and i just hit 16000 miles as well. Mine goes in the shop Monday for that and the suspension popping that they seem to have problems fixing.

well they've had my car for (giving the current time) about 7 days now. and still have yet to fix it. or advise of any pending solutions.

they offered me a 2004 base line automatic mini as a loaner, (a non s) which I declined as that is not a equivalent loaner to my car, considering they have no idea how long they'll have mine.

i think, I may get an other car, when/if they've fixed it.

Every thing that breaks on these cars seems to be a mystery to them .I'm starting to think for some reason they expect us to be happy with them broke or not !

Im begenning to think so. This is my 2nd mini and i will say I havent had half of the problems as on my other mini believe it or not, but it was in the shop for over a month to fix a faulty brake fluid sensor and the dreadful front end popping noise. She is going in the shop tomorrow bc every morning when I start her she dies like 4 times and the yellow check engine light comes and stays on. Also this will be the 3rd trip for the popping. If its not fixed correctly this time i will be calling mini usa with a piece of my mind.

Two Weeks In Service, For Engine Misfire

16000 miles on my car... Service was due (oil change) according to the nav system's naggy reminder.

I'm going to work, and bam, the car misfires, and won't start.

Had it towed to tom bush bmw / mini (which is not where I bought it, by the way, mini of south atlanta's sales dept is AMAZING)

For 3-4 days they had no idea what was wrong with it. plugging it in to the computer, talking to engineers, even BMW tech's had not seen the problem.

Well turns out, like I stated, it was a misfire problem. And, allegedly, I'll get my car back thursday.

Biggest bunch of BS... the dealers service department. Only offered a loaner, 1 week after they had the car, and at that, it was a battered 04 mini cooper. no s (like mine), and certainly no r56.

I was going to get rid of the mini, but then I thought, oh I'll just keep driving it. I know for a fact the dealership will fudge something up.. and it'll break down again, and again, so I'll just lemon law it.

It's not mini's fault. It's the dealer. My m6 has nothing but problems.. and it was bought AND serviced there. my x5 broke down in 3 days, and my 335i had nothing but issues either. Understand, the cars were fine at purchase, up until they were serviced there.

I'd bet my soul, lol. that the dealer doesn't have tech's who know what they're doing.

Sorry to hear of your problems with the MINI and the service. Most dealers will only give out loaners to folks who purchased their MINIs from them. In the future, is it possible for you to take your MINI to a different dealer for service?

If you know the service dept is allegedly bad and has allegedly screwed up servicing other cars you have owned why would you take it there?
I'm not sure about the lemon laws in your state but it would seem like the dealer is really going to have to screw the car up because the clock has barely started running.

I have always had good luck with service at Downtown MINI in Orlando. I didn't buy my car there, but still great service.

Well the car came back today.

I live in NE Florida, and I didn't want to have to go to Atlanta for service, or to Orlando. Although, next time I will

I have 16544 miles on the car, and they refused to change the oil.. when they sat there and told me they would, and when you start the car, it says service required. The service advisor said it's due at 20,000 miles and they can do it at 16000. Well I'm 544 overdue then.

I'm convinced I'll get a new / different non bmw car in the next 2 months

ok. I found out their excuse

bad gas

if it was bad gas, why did it take 2 weeks (shy of 2 weeks by 2 days, technically) to figure that out?

and furthermore, why am I having to have the car towed back up to the dealership in a few hours because it won't start? HMM?

their bad gas excuse is not valid, because that's the same gas that was in it since it came back. I haven't driven it that much. and they put the gas in there
