My Toy mechanic uses it all the time, "best stuff ever," but also says that anything less than every 7500 miles or so is a waste, for it's pretty powerful stuff.

I also told my MINI SA I was using it, and he gave two thumbs up that it's great for keeping the tank's gas level sensor working properly.
thanks will drop it in @ 40k. may be awhile though. if i only drive to work and back 5 days a week i rack up a whopping total of 30 miles although my new exhaust has me running a few more errands .

thanks for all the help. this IS a nice forum. much better than the AVS forum for audio/videophiles (my other expensive passion).

For those of you with higher mileage cars, you might consider pulling your injectors and having them cleaned.
I sent mine to this place:http://www.witchhunter.com/ (Thanks for the tip Dr.O!!)
They provide a "before & after cleaning" chart. Mine had a 12% difference between Hi and Low flow before cleaning. After cleaning they were all within 2% and flowed 5% higher than the highest before. Car ran MUCH better!!
Oh..and they charge $17.00 per injector.

any thoughts. or other additives?
Techron is what BMW recommends, and is what is used in the Top Tier fuels, BMW sells their own version of the additive under a different name. Do not use any additives in the oil, and alway use a top tier fuel.

I had my injectors reconditioned after a 45,000 mile interval http://www.fuelinjection.com/ ; there was almost no difference in open flow and very little difference in pulse flow after cleaning. I’ve been using FP60 fuel additive for 15,000 miles so it probably was doing its job http://www.lcdinc.com/products_fuel_power.php .

At 89,000 miles I changed the fuel filter and made a how-to since I’ve not seen any tutorials. http://www.lonestarminiclub.com/foru...=4062#post4062 .

Nice article!

Any chance you know what the long term fuel trim was at idle? Any restriction in the fuel delivery system will show here first in the form of high positive values. The fuel path in the rail is regulator first, then on to the injectors. The regulator offers the highest resistance to flow at idle due to vacuum is strongest at idle closing the fuel regulator, if there is a fuel filter concern at this point the injectors will be starving for fuel resulting in high positive fuel trim. My 2002 cooper had a LTFT of +15% which I thought was high. I cheated by disconnecting the vacuum from the regulator and plugging the line to eliminate any vacuum leaks. My LTFT the went down to 1%. this led me to think I may have a weak pump. I will have to check the filter. thanks for the info.

I use BG44K every 6 months for the last 3 years. Works well.
My experienced mechanic (also a champion drag racer) highly recommends it. Good fuel system cleaner, add to tank of gas and run it, could even use it at one can per half tank of gas.

I can usually find a can for about $13 on ebay.com otherwise retail for $17 a can.

Good write-up!
One thing I've found is if you pull the fuel pump relay and run the car until it dies, you won't have fuel spraying from the hose when you disconnect it.

Thanks!
