Doug, the dress-up looks cool as hell. I checked out Forge's website and was struck with a little sticker shock. Am I just cheap or is $50 a little steep for a headlight washer cap cover?

Hey Doug,

how hard is it to check coolant level in the steel expansion tank?

I'm thinking of getting one, especially since I still have the old tank design and it is bound to leak soon!

Doug,

Looks like the coolant leaks are permanantly solved. However, maybe your power to weight ratio just dropped a bit, as did the car's handling characteristics (Center of Gravity just moved slightly forward and upward). Was it worth the bucks, just for piece of mind?

I should receive my alloy tank today !
Just to say that my new designed tank is leaking too after 2 month...so the problem seems not to be solved at all....and I'm fed with beeing worry everytime I do a long trip....
So the installation was easy? How did you do? You purged the coolant from the plastic tank, install the new one and fill it with coolant? That's all?

just ordered one, looked at my coolant before going out on the track and the tank was dry. Can't believe a two month old car would have this problem

I just received my Forge aluminum coolant expansion tank.

BTW (as in a BIG BY THE WAY), the tank comes 'topless'!!!!! :???:

I had not realized when ordering that the coolant tank does not come with a cap!!!! It is 'topless'! Bummer, I had assumed it came with a aluminum cap, but nope, you gotta buy the cap separately and it is another $40 in addition to the $160 coolant tank. I wish Forge would have pointed this out to me when I ordered, although I guess I could have noted on their web site that it comes topless. I assume the standard cap from the standard reservoir will fit, since they sell the aluminum cap as a separate item. I will check once my engine has cooled down a bit.

The coolant tank - cap issue aside - is very nicely made, and looks not just pressure proof, it looks positively explosion proof! Nice build quality!

The stock cap fits. I have the Forge aluminum Coolant cap and it just press fits over the stock cap.

You might want to get the matching power steering tank as well. I hate to keep polishing them but they do look good Randy

The power sterring tank looks great, but I think it's more for show whereas the radiator tank has had known issues with leaking in the past.
I installed my tank last weekend, install went pretty smoothly, although I was disappointed that Forge didn't include the M6 bolts for attaching the tank to the bottom mounting points. Had to make a run to the hardware store (and Starbucks) in the middle of the installation.
