Jammed sunroof !! NOT good

OK, well like you might have though, yea.. Jammed sunroof.

I can push the button back so it opens up so it opens the "vent" Instead of it opening fully it leaves the 1-2" gap

When I go to totally open the sunroof all the drivers side of the window seems as if it wants to open but the passengers side seems as if it doesnt want to...

so the window is flexed... It used to work...
Any ideas why it is jammed???

Have you tried driving over some bumps? Seriously, I had this problem a couple of times--although both sides at the same time--and couldn't replicate it for the dealer because the drive over "unlocked" the roof. It hasn't done it for some time, now, so maybe it was just a little catch in the metal?

Definitely worth taking back to the dealer, sometimes a bit of silicone lube around the seals will help it get past a little hang-up/stiction, but I wouldn't mess with it while it's under warranty.

^^ Would they charge for that if it wasn't under warranty? Or would they do a kindness of their heart thing...

Ah, 1st gen question in the 2nd gen forum ?
If you're out of warranty, go to shucks or napa & get a tube of the silicone lube. it works wonders on door rubbers, window seals, sunroof seals....
but if you get it on the paintwork, it's a bugger to paint over (causes fisheyes). I don't recommend it if you're planning a trip to maaco in the near future.

If you're on good terms with your mini dealer I'm sure they'd help you out with a squirt of lube
