My mini does a weird little thing if you turn the engine off without turning the lights off.

The lights stay on as they were.
If i then try to turn the lights off they still stay on!!!
Then when i turn the twisty thing back round so the lights should be on.....they go off!!!
Then i turn it back to the off possition and they stay off this time!

Now is it just me or is that a. weird....and b. pretty pointless???? And is it just my car that its happening on??

thats the follow me home light feature. if you don't like it just go back to your dealer and have them turn it off.

That is very weird.
I sure don't have that problem.
Maybe because my MINI is a 2002 model
and what is the year of your MINI?

Is the FMH feature on by default or do you have to request it when you order? I'm thinking this will be very useful once we move out to our country place, miles from the nearest street lamp. The dealer can enable it if it's not on, correct?

Dealer can enable it, and modify the time the lights stay on. There are a bunch of "comfort options" that are dealer programmable, ands as far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to be a standard original setup.
One is the follow-me-home lights, another is the auto door locking when you hit 10mph. That has a couple of options. You can have the doors unlock when you turn the car off, and you have have them change the speed at which the doors lock.
The other main comfort option is what happens when you hold down the unlock button of the remote. You can have it pop the release on the boot, or you can have it roll down the windows and open the sunroof (if you have a sunroof). Alice came with the boot pop option, which I thought I wanted anyway, but I've since had it switched to roll down the windows. The boot doesn't OPEN, so you still have to lift right about where the release is anyway.

The FMH feature came as standard for me...along with the doors locking at 10mph. I didnt know about holding the unlock button will give that a try! hope it winds the windows down!!! that will be cool!
I bought my car direct from BMW (as i work for a company owned by them) so i got it through internal sales. Do you think i can take it to any BMW dealer and they will change the features for me???
