Interior Mirror

I didn't get the auto dim interior mirror when ordering my baby. Sure wish I did. Anyone add this mirror after the fact? Wondering if this is a possible DIY and how mouch for the parts?

It is possible (i.e. it's been done before in the 1st gen MINIs) but VERY expensive.

The mirror contains the receiver for the Fob remote.

Mess with it at peril.

Looked into this myself. I had my mirror off ( very easy job ) and unfortunately ( and unlike the R53 ) the power wires required are not there.

It could be done but would need power wires splicing into overhead lights.

Tint your rear window. For me - $150 well spent (for all 5 windows) and I rarely even flip the mirror any more. Plus it looks cool and keeps the car cool.

Has been done here also. We chose to run the wire down the A-pillar to the fuse panel.
