Reduced Engine Power???
Reduced Engine Power???
has a problem with my 2007 MCS yesterday...(11.29.07) with only 6500 miles on it...i was in the parking lot at my job, i started the car like normal, (automatic) and pulled outta my spot...got about halfway across the parking lot and it said "reduced engine power", when i gave it gas, it wouldn't do anything...luckily i was able to coast into another parking spot. i waited a couple minutes...gave it some gas....still nothing...shut it off....waited about another 10 mins....turned it back on. same thing...reduced engine power...i called roadside assistance and when the tow truck came we gave it another shot...this time the lights would come on the dash/with radio but the engine did nothing this time...it was completely dead...it got towed to prestige mini and i am waiting to hear back from them......also on the tach, it displayed picture of a motor, with only half of it lit up when i got the reduced engine power on the nav screen....
little bit of background the car was just picked up from the dealership about a week ago, for a pretty substantial water leak into the car. it was there for about 15 days......and then previously was initially in the dealership for the same problem....they replaced the entire sunroof where the thought the leak was coming from...turns out it was the old-style door seals vs the new-style door seals around both doors....problem solved for now...... they said i would just have to wait and see if it leaks again....
anybody have any insight as to the "reduced engine power" problem??? could the leak have anything to do with it....maybe something got wet???
any help would be great....
thanks alot in advance...

Adam, you might get some additional responses if you post over in the second generation thread. This sounds like an ECU problem and, if that's the case, you'll be glad your MINI is still under warranty!
Let us know how it turns out.

When was your car built?
My wife's is from 3/07 and we had the ecu reflashed due to it being overly sensitive and getting the check engine light for no reason.
It only went to limp mode once, I restarted the car and all was fine.

Same problem
I have a 07 MCS Auto and i just had the same problem. It's going in the garage this Friday to see what the problem is. After i was driving with no power for a little while the car did not want to move once I've taken my foot off the brake. It sounded like the engine was about to seize solid before she would start to move. I also had a smell of burning sugar inside and out of the car.
