Help with Fuse Box removal/Power Steering Questions

I was trying to see if the 100 amp fuse was bad in the engine bay fuse block. Anyone have tips to get to this fuse? to DO I even need to check or should I just R&R the pump and fan and all will be well?

I would love to ask the engineers why the put a fuse in such a difficult place to get to.

dont hurt to check it I just pulled mine out and put it back in about 10 min, it checked good. I would rather spend the extra 10 min to check the fuse and take the off chance it is the fuse... then to fork out $$$. YOu will need a 10mm socket, a 8mm socket, and a flat head to pop off the cover on the bottom. ******* DISCONNECT YOU BATT!!!!******* I had sparks fly as I wasnt thinking strait!!!!

Really 10 minutes?

I undid all the bolts (Sparking too!) But I couldn't figure where to pop off the bottom. Also couldn't pull the whole assembly out. The Bentley manual want me to take out the air cleaner and the computer.

The bentley manual may be big but it leave a lot to be desired for instructions.

I also tried to get the pump out. On jack stands underneath on a creeper. Fan no problem. The pump I can't figure where these bolts everyones is talking about are. Theres a nice welded plate in the way of everything.

At this point I'm ready to torch the car and collect the insurance. I'd love to strangle some engineers. Or at least force them to R&R their design.

I know it's been a few years, but I just got to the fuse panel yesterday on my '06 Mini Cooper. Had to remove the battery, ECM (pop out upwards, pull on black handles to pop out connections), then the battery compartment (3 screws in floor, one screw front side), unscrew the fuse panel, slide off bottom cover, pop open small cover over 100 fuse. More of a pain to put back together, though.
