hey guys i have a 2006 mini cooper. my brakes have been squealing for some time now and i have told the service departments several times. but i always get the same answer. One guy told me that its normal on a 06 cooper, he said the brake pads or sth gets dirty with dust so it squeals, which is normal. The other guy said its because i apply too many "light" brakes and not enough hard brakes when driving so there is a glaze on the flywheel or rotors. He said it wouldnt help to change the flywheel or anything and just told me to brake hard once in a while. it doesnt sound right to me though and i dont know much about cars...so any help will be appreciated. Thanks

 

It's quite common and as far as I know not indicative of a problem.
