People have done it. Not sure it's very cost effective, i'd probably just swap out the gears with something aftermarket rather than changing the whole gearbox.

 

I believe it has been done a few times. you are going to lose cruise control that much is for sure.

 

I think Some vendors sells custom gears, also you can grab gears from a focus. You would have to search to find the exact gearing ratios for the different boxes. (02-04/05-06/Focus) And of course while your at it get a new clutch and a lightened flywheel. Good winter project.

 

that is a very good suggestion.... which clutch and flywheel do u suggest for my cooper, does obx have these made....
