Me neither. I just watch the lady of the house drive them up to 250k with nary a problem beyond basic maintenance. It's a *****. This latest, her cheapest car ever, appears to be more of the same. It hasn't blinked at over 30k in it's first year. Oh, it's not FUN to drive like the Mini. I guess that FUN comes with a price tag, etc. The Yaris went out the door at $12.8k. My Mini S was $28.8k.
I DREAM of my Mini doing the same. BUT, I KNOW it's a dream.

"Point is, if you have a legitimate complaint, do something about it instead of whining away like a miserable little child."

Wow, looks like I’ve hit a nerve. It’s great to know that some people still refer to me as a kid…now that’s refreshing! I wish you were with me when I was explaining to the service manager the comedic events of our Mini ownership. I’m sorry to have upset you… I’m just really frustrated with all these events.

As a side note, I’ve driven my BMW for over 13 years without any major problems. Mini’s association with BMW was a big part of my decision to buy a Mini. As a result, my fit and finish expectation levels were much higher for Mini.

Thanks again and may peace be with you.

Way to go! How many miles? What kind of routine maintenance? (oil change intervals, etc.)

If you wanted quality craftsmanship and excellent fit and finish you should have bought a used R53. I am 52 years old, have owned dozens of cars and my 2005 MCS has had fewer problems than any car I have owned inluding my 2007 BMW 335i coupe. I saw the new Clubman at the L.A. Auto Show last week and was surprised when I closed the rear and back doors. Each time it sounded like a metal can full of loose screws.

Actually, it was only in the last year or so that I even considered a Mini because the last generation was notoriously unreliable, until very recently. The 2006 model year was the first time they were finally of what I would consider an acceptable level of quality. Of course, that might possibly change now that they completely revamped the entire car. Time will tell.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again--I've had no appreciable problems, and absolutely NO rattles (except for radar detector), no sunroof noise. leaks, etc, etc.

I have a week 3 build (January), so all but one of the problems I've had are directly related to this--needed a reprogramming of the cruise control, and had to have the secret compartment installed as it came locked from the factory in the early cars. I did have to have an SZL replaced (see separate threads), but that's not bad for a total redesign. And this is with over 14,000 on the clock, most high speed and/or on twisties, so she hasn't exactly been a garage queen.

I have to wonder how many '07s are out there with similar records...

Well, the floor mat did bunch-up once....

Otherwise, Molly has been trouble-free for 13,600 miles I've never driven a better designed, better engineered, or better-built car.

See, they're out there. Probably aren't posting on NAM, though--no need to for mechanical problems.

Yep - it's often helpful to remember that less than 2% of MINI owners have *ever* posted anything here on NAM.

I'd agree with Noegel here. The brand's a winner, but your particular car sounds like the runt of the litter, unfortunately. I've had mine 7 months and not a rattle nor a problem. But yours is definitely a lemon and you can prove it soon, raise hell in your dealership or your state if you have to take it that far and either get your coin back or get another Mini, which you could consider carefully because the dealer would look kindly on you for not slamming the door in their face after all you've been through. I hope I never have to go through what you've been through. I'm sure you know that the cars in general are not crummy cars if you've been around here long. Just my .02

And you forgot the MAIN problem with the MINI "craftmanship", although I think it is a QA problem, not craftsmanship.

The Navigation systems does not work.

Just to enlighten those who may not have ventured into Birdman's thread on the nav POI, the navagations system DOES work (i.e., it provides directions which do take you to the destination you enter). It just has a very poor system to locate points of interest.

To the contrary, and I suggest you all read the problem thread for yourself. The Navigation system DOES NOT WORK, period. When something 1/2 works, it is broken, and does not work.

MINI needs to fix it.

No. Just because you don't like the way it works, does not mean it does not work....

From reading that thread let it be said the system does not work like most other GPS units available for sale now. It'll get you there, but other features are lacking or hard to use, making the overall unit's performance somewhat lacking.

Exactly. But just saying it doesn't work is (1) false and (2) provides no useful information to anyone. My car's interior rattles like tin foil in a microwave. So, should I say my car doesn't work because other cars don't rattle like that when driven?

While the POI issue is egregious, it doesn't even come close to making the Nav 'broken' or 'worthless'. Even if you make a distintion between all the Nav functions, and specfically the navigation function itself. I find it damn useful, especially with the Traffic Info. Bottom line is, most who have it think it is worth it (even Birdman thinks so):

I'm 63 years young and for some stupid reason have fallen into the habit of purchasing a new car about every four years. I've had Chevys, Toyotas, Hondas, Subarus, Fiats, Fords and currently an 04 MC.

None of them have been perfect, the MINI has been better than most I would have to say (my wife agrees too)

Planning on an 08 MC next year.

I put a deposit down ($450) and have ordered a MCS. Should I blow off the money and run?
Aside from two flat tires in the first 600 miles, I've had no mechanical problems with my '07 MCS. It's a blast to drive and gives me more enjoyment every day. I have no complaints other than not having a water temp gauge and a stupid fuel gauge. But the fuel gauge can't be changed easily and as soon as a water temp gauge is available I'll be getting one.
As far as canceling an order, if the dealer is a decent "businessman" he will refund you deposit even though you signed a contract saying you would forfeit it. I've ordered two BMWs in the past 15 years and decided I either didn't want them or a situation arose where I couldn't keep the order going. Both times I got my deposit back. Ultimately I've bought four BMWs from this dealer.
