Glove box rattle/removal
Glove box rattle/removal
Hello all,
My glove box (06 Mini Cabrio) has a rattle when I drive. So I decided I would try to fix this. The first thing I noticed is that the top right screw, to the right of the latch, appeared to be loose. There was a piece of black tape covering the screw and when I removed the tape the screw would move in the hole. So, being the brave soul that I am I decided to remove the screw and look in the hole.
Well, now the screw will not go back in! It appears that there was a keeper that has fallen off. I removed the left top screw and there was a blue keeper that I could see, and then I could thread the screw back in. What I want to do now is remove the glove box.
Looking in the glove box, I see five torx screws that need to be removed. One on the back of the box, one on each side, and the two top screws. Am I missing any of the screws?
As long as I'm begging for help, does anyone have any ideas on the rattle? I think that the loose screw was probably the culprit, but since I will have the box out is there any thing else I should look for?
Thanks for your help,
George
