Check Engine Light & MCS Auto Trans
Bought MINI #6 on Labor Day weekend @ Classic MINI in Mentor, Ohio and drove home to CA, logging some 2,700 miles. No problems, no CEL. About a week and 100 miles after a fill up at an Arco, the CEL light (steady) came on while my wife was driving. Made an appointment at the local dealer, and upon investigation they perormed a software upgrade according to a MINI Service Bulletin, to version 26.02.00 (or higher).
When we got the car back, the A/C "snowflake" button's green LED was flashing. Had to leave the car; and the next day we got it back. Apparently softeware upgrades can put the A/C compressor into "limp" mode disabling it. The techs then went in and "manually" re-set it back to active through the software diagnostic unit and we were off.......
