Grill Stolen; how do I put new one on?

Hello everyone,

Yes, the first day I got my car back from the collision center, parked it in my driveway, next morning, my grill was stolen.

I have an 03 mini cooper, I had to order a new one from inskip.

All the holes line up, but it doesn't snap on. I looked at the hood, and there are holes there, but I remember there being something else that sat in those holes that let the grill snap in.

I believe whoever stole my grill, was kind enough to steal those holder brackets as well.

I was hoping someone could tell me how the stock MCS 03 grill goes on their car? Does it use brackets? If it does, can it be bought anywhere? Possibly other then the dealer since they must charge a lot for it.

Oh and it's the honey comb grill,

Thanks for any help, I'd really appreciate it

There are nuts that self thread onto the studs that are on the grill once it is on the hood.

That's a fact. Can't be more than a couple of bucks for all 4 nuts. I'm guessing that the grille wasn't stolen, but was not bolted on by the body shop, and fell off while you were driving. Would've caused a bit of damage to the mounting frame if someone had tried to yank it off. Can't get at those bolts unless the car was left unlocked.

I agree that it is more likely that it fell off due to recent body work. You will need those special nuts though.

Hey wassup guys, thanks for all the responses. I wish that was the case that it fell off, I would've gone searching for it like a mad man. The reason why I know it was stolen was because the night before, we were checking oil and what not before we headed in for the night. The grill was there. Next morning, about to go to work, and BAM, no more grill.

I suspect my neighbor and his friends down the street, but I can't go around pointing fingers. We're planning on getting one of the motion detector lights that turn on when someone's in your driveway, if someone comes onto our driveway, we'll all be alerted... hopefully.

Anyways, do you guys have a name for the nut that self threads itself? Or maybe even a picture?

Thanks a lot for all your help

OH and went to see Resident Evil today, wasn't bad, wasn't the best either, 6 outta 10 for me.

The grill is attached with 11 nuts (part# 07131509597). They run around 15 cents each.

Sorry for the earlier miscount. My spare grille was hanging in a dark garage.
