2007 MINI DEFECT
2007 MINI DEFECT
Okay guys, I have tried uploading my videos to share with you. THIS IS very important and I think you should all be aware that my 07 MINI came with a major flaw. The windshield seal was wrong and at high speed the window was essentially being pushed in to the cab. BMW is aware and it was fixed, however how many people in America wouldnt know about their cars dangerous flaw. By the way this was on autobahn going towards stuttgart, it was "no Speed limit zone". Notice the engine and all other road noise is drowned out at 120mph, this was VERY loud.

HUH one hand??? ....
Cant you hear me ask someone if they're recording yet in one of the films? And by the way I am very well adapted to driving at those speeds. ANyone not living in Europe really hasnt a clue about driving fast. If anything happened at that speed anyways another hand or 4 wouldnt do you any good. Thankyou for your concern. stay in the Right Lane.
Hey thats amazing, I asked before and nobody really knew what I was talking about. I thought it was the roof window too!!! ONly the dealer can fix this problem and should.
It is certainly worth getting fixed, but I haven't heard of this being a "major flaw" affecting a lot of cars. It just sounds like the sealant on your windshield was not quite right.
Pretty cool to legally drive so fast. . . . I've never had the opportunity to drive so fast legally on the roads.

btw - i'm sure most of us here would have just taken your word.. thanks for the stunning and gripping video. i couldnt leave my seat!!!
Where were you driving? I lived in HD for over a year and then I did a tour in the Rock (Baumholder). I remember few places that were not crowded with cars and especially trucks. I did have my Saab up to 125 going to the Airport from Baumholder. Have fun and keep your left blinker on
Here is the answer that I just received from the rocket scientists at MINI USA:
"Thanks for writing MINI. I apologize to hear of your windshield concerns.

All technical information has been allocated for our service and parts departments at the dealerships. They have the resources to answer your inquiry and address your concerns. Having lived in Germany for well over 5 years now, I'll back him in saying that most people in the USA don't know what it is like to drive that fast. Some facts about the Autobahn that most people don't realize are:
1. The white dotted lines are longer and further spaced giving you the feel of driving slower than you are.
2. Material used on the roads is of a high grade for maximum traction.
3. Most turns are banked in some manner to aid in driving.
4. Areas that are marked for a limit are usally built up areas or there is a reason such as the material that was used to repair the road.
Now, the times are chaning and the Germans are not keeping the raods up to the same level as when I was station here in the late 80's, but they are still good.
When I was in Heidelberg I remember getting an e-mail from the motor vehicle office (written by a german) telling me that the B3 was under construction and that they were using "American" grade cement so please pay close attention to your speed and obey the limit. I got quite a chukle over that.
Bottom line is that there is nothing wrong with driving fast if you and your car are up for it. Most people here in Germany clear the left lane for passing only and never ride in it like we do in America.

Get over yourself, and put two hands on the wheel. A blowout at that speed would most definitely require two hands on the wheel to handle properly. Arrogance (or 'experience' as you call it) is not an excuse for bad driving habits.

...thanks for the alert.
