Engine clicking under acceleration?

I have a 2003 MCS and lately have noticed that if I am next to a wall while accelerating pretty heavy I hear the supercharger clicking. I don't hear it unless I am next to something reflecting the sound back. Has anyone else had this and is it just normal and I never noticed?

Thanks

A clicking/rattling supercharger is usually associated with a bad water pump (water pump is driven by gears on the super charger).

Are you sure it is coming from the super charger and not just something like a loose heat shield?

Edit: I cant type...

Mine does this also. Same year as yours, asked your same question, got lots of answers. Search in the stock issues thread(?) or follow my old posts. When I had Web Motorsports install my pulley I asked Randy about this. He suggested it was the S/C or fuel injectors I can't remember. All I know is ,my Mini has done this since I bought it and at 47k+ no problems.

When the sc belt is stretched, the tensioner can make a nice rattle when accellerating at 3-4000 rpm. I think that most complaints of "pinging" is actually the tensioner.

If it is rattling all the time, idle, cruising, etc... I would think sc/pump.

Take a look at the tensioner and see how much of the spring stop is poking out. This is the same place that you secure the tensioner in service mode. A new jcw size belt on a 15% pulley will show about half a hole. If you have more than one hole I would try a new/ or shorter belt.

A search will get you some pictures if you are unsure. I would also recommend taking a huge grain of salt... with a lime... and tequila with forum diagnosis.

That'll work too, I usually leave out the salt and lime anyway.
