2002 Cooper, roughness/vibration on low rpm accel.

I had two Cooper Ss before my current Cooper and neither of them acted this way. I don't know if it is just a characteristic of the car or not. But at low rpms in 2nd gear (1500) when accelerating there is a lot of vibration which then goes away at higher rpms. Is it normal that a Cooper is a little rough and unhappy accelerating from low revs? What is normal? Thanks!

Vibration might be a motor mount, but can be caused by simple things as well. Check for bad gas to start with. From there I would check the spark plugs both for condition and tightness. Next would be the plug wires. Never hurts to make sure the air filter is good and clean. After that comes more technical stuff like injectors etc. Check the simple things first. Usually problems of this type are fixed with a little maintenance. Most you can do yourself with minimal expense with out going to a shop Good luck.

Oops I should probably add that I just broke 12,000 miles last week. Super low mileage. All the filters and fluids are new. I have noticed it from the get go since I got the car a few weeks ago.

I bet the motor mounts could be dried out. I will check there for anything obvious around there. I guess I should try and drive a new MCC or something to get a perspective of what the engine/trans feels like new. Thanks

Maybe thats because your in low rpm and your killing the motor?... i understand that the best shifting point is 3k and up.
