Secret security system on mcs
Secret security system on mcs
Last night my mcs refused to do anything when the start button was pushed.
I left it where it was. This morning I checked the battery. It was good so I called mini assist for a roadside tow. The tech there told me that the car had decided it had been "tampered" with and turned on a security system. She had me insert the key fob, press on the brake pedal, turn the wheel to the left and push the start button, all at once. Amazingly, it ran. Why they dont mention this to you at the dealer is ridiculous.

Sounds more like the steering wheel lock issue that you run into with a traditional key in the steering column system. Occasionally they refuse to start until you turn the wheel left or right to take pressure off from the switch. This description matches that scenario.

Same thing happened to me after I valet parked. Parking attendant couldn't start my car. I hard these strange clicking sounds every time I pressed the ignition button.
I had roadside assistance on the way until I noticed a steering wheel lock indicator on the tach screen. I turned the wheel and the car started.
