It used to be on when I shut the car off, but today when I shut the car off, it turned off 0_o. I heard the relay click, but nothing happens. Anyone else got the same experience? Thanks for all your help!!

 

I was just getting ready to post about the same thing. The fan always ran before just for awhile when I shut the car off but only once in the last few weeks. At first I thought it was just because it has cooled off some but it was 85 yesterday and it didn't come on. I also here the clicking and I do hear the coolant circulating , but for a much longer time now than before. I would think there would be a code if the fan was faulty but nothing comes up.

 

It could be the fuse they've been known to blow on the fans .

 

If the fan is running when the car is running then that eliminates the fuse.

 

Your problem might be related to those "software" issues, which has been discussed. I had a same problem. The fan stopped working after "check engine" light came on. My dealer told me to bring it. My MINI had to go through about 4-hours software update. Since then, everything has been great.

 

Yesterday afternoon mine worked normally again. Maybe it is a software issue. I guess I'll just wait and see what happens next.

 

I was also getting ready to post about this, i've noticed my fan no longer runs after turning the car off, guess i'll turn it in.

 

Cooler environmental temperatures?

 

That's what I thought at first, but it's still in the upper 90's here in Phx

 

Had our 1st week March R56 in for service the last 3 days. Routinely, the dealer performs any recall issues. It seem there is a cooling fan update recall. Our repair order indicated that it was "as per bulletin SI M61 04 07". This may be helpful.

 

I turned it in, they told me that it was normal due to the temps being lower, BUT it now runs like it used to, I know they did an update because I now have auto down windows and auto sunroof.

 

i just experienced this, this morning. fan didnt turn on upon shutting off the car, then i heard some popping sound coming out of the back. not sure what that was.

i then decided to take the car for another spin around the block twice, i shut off the car, and the fan kicked on. it seemed like it didnt kick on for as long as it used to though, but we'll see. if it gets worse, ill have to call it in
