Lower Control Arm Bushings - Advice on replacing, please

My MINI is at the dealer right now for a transmission replacement. My SA said that my lower control arm bushings need to be replaced and quoted me $749. That includes approx. 6 hours of labor and the parts.

I'm wondering if anyone has had this done at the dealer and what the final cost ended up being. I have searched and found a couple of guys who have done it themselves in 2-4 hours. Any advise on what I should do? $749 seems like a crazy amount of money to replace the control arm bushings.

Like I said...it is at the dealer and I want to make a decision on it by tomorrow morning so any advice would really be appreciated!

Thank you all!

$551.60 for both done at the same time on 6/13/07 at MINI of Towson.
Got them to peek at the ball joints and tie rod joints to make sure they
didn't need replacement (they didn't).
They quoted me 3 hours labour per side, but only charged me 4 hours
total.

I'm guessing if I only got one side done, it would have been 3 hours labour.

Good luck. It's really up to the whim of the dealer.

There should be some overlapping labor if they are replacing the transmission at the same time as they will already have the cradle out.The control arm bushings are pretty simple to replace once the cradle is out.You may ask them about that and if they tell you there is no overlap I would take it elsewhere as they are trying to rip you off.
