Bent rim--problem?

I was poking around my MINI today and came upon this gem. The rim on the inside rear passenger wheel is bent. As far as I know it has been there for a long time. Assuming no air is leaking, is this a problem? How about when I go to buy new tires, will this cause any issues?

I'm not sure what could have caused it as there seem to be no scrape marks or impact points, but I presume it would not be a warranty repair. What's the going rate for an S-Lite these days?

Thanks!

if it's not leaking and it's not causing balance issues, it's ok for now. keep your eyes out for a single replacement wheel....should be less than $100.

Would probably replace it because it's now out-of-round. Have a tire shop put the litmus test on my rationale, but it would be better to replace it becuase the tire/rim contact area has been compromised.

Hope this helps,

Robb

After looking more closely at the pictures, I notice a line from a black marker...probably indicating the issue...so I am guessing it has been there for some time.

It looks like I'll be shopping for a new/used S-Lite.

I doubt that any reputable tire shop would agree to install a new tire on that wheel in its present condition.

That was my assumption too.

Anyone have any guesses as to why someone would mark it? Unfortunately, it's only speculatation, since I bought it used.

I have noticed a mark on almost every bent wheel where the rubber puts a mark on the rim at the bend point. It's almost easier to see than a bend.
