Electrical mishaps for '07 MINIs...

My girl's Mini is going crazy, so I told her to take it to the dealer. The dealer told my girlfriend that some '07 Minis' are coming in on a regular basis with electrical problems. For example, the yellow brake light goes off randomly, the wipers go off randomly and the door locks don't lock on their own anymore.

Something about dirt affecting one of the computers and a new part was made to cover the computer. They didn't tell her what computer it was. Anyone heard of this?

Just before Mini took back my yellow R56 it began to disable the passenger airbag randomly. To reset it, I'd have to get off the road, turn off the car, my wife would have to get out of the seat, and get back in. Restart and motor on. Happend twice on our last ride in it.

My only electrical problem so far, is that Bluetooth stopped working. Now it will not even pair with any of my phones. MINI has started a PUMA case (whatever that is), and I am waiting for them to decide on a course of action.

There's something called a body control module

that takes car of all the things the original poster mentioned. I don't know if it's involved with the Blue Tooth, but I don't think so.

I have had similiar problems with 07mcs. DSC and brake light on all time, DSC switch doesn't work, wipers come on after car turned off. In shop for 3 weeks now (I only drove it 5 days). Switch on backorder. Dealer says 9 on order nationally. This is very frustrating!

It's the BC module...

I've heard of this more and more, and also it happening when it's rained very, very hard. I think I'd heard that they're working or have a fix on this, based on some cover added to cover the connectors.

I'd bet if your car is having these types of problems, it's the body control module.

ndmyr: Please post up what exactly the dealer did to resolve this. My car has the same problems. I have a US spec car in South Korea. I went on leave for 1 month and when I came back immediately had this problem. The car has been garaged the whole time. I have a friend with an 07S also and he has the same thing. I had the car scanned by Mini Mobile service and they want to update the software for the BC module, but I have to wait a week for the appt. I would appreciate your followup....there is a BIG language barrier here. Thanks

DR. Obnxs: Monsoon season has just ended here. Lots of rain........

My dealer found the part - switch unit steering 61-31-3-449-452 and installed it last night. Seems to have fixed it. Good luck to everyone!

I had my first MINI problem this morning. The chime would not shut off no matter what I did. I made sure all seat belts were fastened and all doors (and boot) were closed, but it just keep dinging. It even continued after I turned off the car and removed the key. I left it for 30 minutes as I took my kids to school in my bride's car. When I started it back up - chime gone!

I hope it doesn't reoccur.

My 07 MCS would not start today (49. When I put the key in it clicked and the radio and panel lights came on. When I pushed the start button, nothing. I know someone will ask.... Yes, I had the clutch engaged. I tried several times. I removed the key several times. I waited a few minutes. Nothing. I called MINI roadside assistance. While I was talking to the guy, the car started making a clicking noise and then started even though I did not push the start button. It worked fine the rest of the day. Kinda weird.

These are all consitant symptoms..

I don't know if it's moisture or what, but a lot of 07s are having "personality disorders". The thing I fear, is that if it happens once, it will happen more. So make sure your SA knows of the issue and logs it into your service record. This will do two things: Make Mini aware, and let them know that you're not imagining it as it gets worse and worse.

My wife's '04 MC has the passenger airbag disabled constantly unless the seat belt is in, even with no one in the seat. We had it fixed once, but it came back. Now she just keeps the seat belt latched to keep the light off.
