So far I have seen several advertisements for "Performance Parts" for the Cooper S but have not seen any post's with results of the mods. I am interested in getting my computer reprogramed or a different pulley to increase boost or any other performance enhansements that can be had for the S but have no idea what has worked on these cars Any info would be appreciated.

justjoe, you bring up a good point. What good is it to bolt up a bunch of stuff that has not been proven. Performance parts need to have dyno results listed with the part. Just changing an air filter or bolting up an aftermarket exhaust is no guarantee of better performance. The proof I've seen is a friends 02' Honda Civic SI under heaving performance upgrades not the least was an engine swap. At one point during the upgrades he found after doing a dyno run that about 2 grand worth of stuff he put on did not contribute to any performance gains at all.

Well actually Hondas are pretty much known to obtain zero gains from intake and exhaust. Cold-air intakes usually add some hp on them though and headers can help on the top end. The acura cl type s gains 30HP just from headers in the 5k to redline range.

However, this is a supercharged engine he's talking about. I've heard they have smaller pulleys overseas already for the Mini S. This means the supercharger turns faster and creates more boost. There is going to be a definite gain from that. Also, any chip that comes out for the MCS will need to be programmed to modify timing, fuel, and air to cope with higher boost. I would say the car is capable of easily getting about 180hp at the wheels, which is over 200hp at the crank. If there is room, people will also mount a front mount intercooler rather than the one on top of the engine, because that would keep it away from engine heat. Doesn't really matter to me though, because one of the reasons I'm buying a Cooper S is because i like it the way it is. It might be kinda hard to resist a chip for it though. Also if I buy one off the lot that doesn't have the 17" wheels I'm probably going to spend up to $1500 on 17" wheels and tires.

I finally got my MINI yesterday. I say finally but I got her pretty quick being here in Germany has its advantages. I have done some checking and have been told by two tuners here in germany that with a reprograming i can get as high as 189 HP out of the motor with no other mods. The one in Berlin says he can do it on his dyno and it will only take him a couple of hours but that is a full days drive from here. I am going to wait till I get some milage on it and it is broke in before i change anything. (only have 35 miles on it so far) as for the pulley I have checked around and nobody has any info on it at least the four tuning shops I checked with that the BMW dealer sent me to. but I will keep looking.

Check Digi-Tec, they are in Germany, have a good reputation, and offer a chip and pulley mod for the S that brings it up to 210 hp. DIGI-TEC

Unless someone puts the Mini/S on a DYNO before and after every mod, you'll never know...

The ECU upgrade is from here in Germany I tracked them down and the price is almost the same as ordering it but I can go in and have it done the same day. I am going to give DIGI-TECH a call and see what they have to offer. Thanks for the help. And I do intend to DYNO it before and after each Mod.
