I think that says alot itself...
It says I have an R56. And if I had a Pinto in the 70's I would not have known they have a habit of exploding when rear-ended, if I hadn't heard about it.

Actually, if I recall, the ozone hole is due to things like Freon being dumped. CO2 emissions are the reason why the ice is melting. Keep it up and Ohio may be under water (courtesy of the levees not being upgraded).

Out of curiousity, how do you know the R56 won't have mushrooming problems?

Pintos dont explode when rear ended. It does it break open the gas tank, which may or may not lead to a fire.

Oh, you got one of those new, watered down MINI's eh?

I'll take mushroomed strut towers and an enthusiast car over redesigned strut towers and a BMW with MINI skin.... :P

whatever... you are going down a well worn-out path that, fortunately, most posters have long outgrown.

p.s. I take it then you really have a classic Mini?

Obviously, I don't, yet. But the towers have been redesigned and strengthened.

Actually, if it is a classic (Mini), I don't think they are subject to mushrooming. The body sheetmetal was much thicker back then and the road forces that were transferred by the suspension were much less than with the R53 edition.

I was referring to not-so's remark about not wanting a BMW in MINI skin.

No, I have an R53. I have lots of other stuff from different decades and different markets. I have my hand in just about every decade and type of car, lol.

The R56 is Just a BMW with a MINI emblem on it. Everythng is way more complex than it needs to be. Theres a certain level of performance I expect from each of my cars, and an R56 isnt worth my time as the R53 is still somewhat simple, in comparison to alot of newer vehicles.

Its going to be even more simple once the K20 and standalone get finished. Whoops, let out a bit of a suprise there.... :p

I haven't looked at the strut area of my Mini since reading about the mushrooming issue, but if I was affected, I wouldn't mind signing the electronic petition if someone started it up. I once signed a petition for a class action lawsuit against Nissan regarding the alignment issue my 350z had. To this day I haven't heard anything new about. It took me about 3 minutes to sign it and describe my problem.
