Only one guy really understood. He was Ober blu who says there is a loose grommett or something in there that falls out or gets lost in the mix when the downtubes are temporarily removed, like to change the downtubes, or add the cupholder, or work on the radio. Anyhow. You guys really have creative (read that "dirty") imaginations. I was just talking about two jiggly pieces of plastic. But if you want to keep this thread going onwards as sort of a naughty Rorschach, well carry on.

 

Well if you actually want to address your problem...

Do they wiggle throughout their length, or more at the top or bottom? There is no grommets that I recall in multiple removals of my downtubes, but I have the '04, so their is a styrofoam centering block. In the '06, the bottoms flare out. In other words, I have no idea. I'm sorry.

 

nothing worse than fakes . you keep a little jiggle ....it's good on ya .

Mine creaks on the driver's side, because my leg is always pressing against it.

5K miles & I can see my passenger down tube is moving up & down...

I can see where the anthracite coating has worn off- The bottom .25" is now white!!!

I'm hoping to have the dealer fix the problem when they change the oil next week.

 

I went up the mountain in Cuba. The wine was not good. There was a woman there. I was down in the tubes. I could only wiggle. I think I will take a shotgun and ....blow my head off.
