A/C vibration

Hi,

I did a search for this and found a few hits, but nothing really enlightening. I have a 06 S with 15% pulley, one-ball, DTBPV and DDM CAI. The car runs fine, but when I put the A/C on it vibrates fairly significantly and thrums a bit at idle (more than I'm used to on most cars, but not outrageously badly). The A/C seems to be working OK. Has anyone had this issue & is it something to take to the dealer or is it a "they all do that" kind of thing?

Thanks

You will notice increased driveline vibration when the compressor is engaged. Simply how the system functions. I would compare to another local to see if your degree/level of vibration is significantly more or not. If it is, then contact your dealer. If your situation is like mine and you are hours, not minutes, away from the closest dealer it probably isn't worth the trip unless you are due for service or have other issues that need to be addressed at the same visit.

AZMCS,
Yea, unfortunately I'm about 2 hrs from the dealer, so I don't really want to go unless it's necessary (it has been awfully hot here recently, 95+ so I'm sure it was working hard, but it was blowing reasonably cold). I'll check some other people's MCS at the next club event we have & compare.

Yeah sucjs being a distance from a dealer. I suspect what you are feeling is well within the normal tolerances. If you start to get enough vibration that your keys/keychain rattle significantly, I would bite the bullet and setup an appointment. Otherwise you have a good plan (kinda tooting my own horn as it was my original suggestion, but hey...)
