Here in Houston it was nearly 100F today. I drove my MCS in stop-start traffic for about an hour or so and then let it sit for 15-20 minutes. When I got back in, the "flat tire" monitor and the DSC light both came on and stayed on at start up. I flicked the DSC switch a couple times but the light stayed on (no effect). I then checked my tires and the pressures were normal. I turned the car off and tried it again, same result. I needed to get home, which was fairly closeby, so I started back--about a 1/2 mile down the road the lights returned to normal and have stayed that way since (approx 40 miles).

Is it possible that this sort of problem may have been caused by excessive heat in the engine bay?

If anyone has any other thoughts on a possible cause, I'd be grateful for your suggestions since I suspect a service technician looking at this will give me the stock answer: "We couldn't replicate it here, so there's nothing we can do."

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem about a month back. I had just got done driving my MCS hard through the mountains and when I stopped and restarted I had those same lights stay on until my next start-up. The problem has not reoccurred. It was not exceptionally hot that day, but I was driving my MCS like I had stolen it and having lots of fun in the process!

I was so worked up about this that I forgot to do a search before posting a message. My apologies to all--and feel free to disregard all future postings!

Here are a couple recent links discussing the problem:

Seems to be a fairly common problem; sometimes associated with a sensor failure but most of the time just a temporary problem caused by a "misread" by the DSC. At least, that's the consensus suggested by the threads above.
