Can I use a stock 15" wheel & tire as a spare on a MINI with 16"?

Can I use a stock 15" wheel & tire as a spare on a MINI with 16"?

I own a 2006 MCS with stock 16" wheels and runflats.

Of course there's no spare, but we're going on a long trip.

I'm thinking of putting one of my stock 15" holies with stock tire in the boot just in case we get a flat.

The 15" stock rim & tire is probably just as good or even better to use as a "spare" than a donut spare would be, correct?

Also the 15" holie is from a 2003 MINI, but I'm assuming the 2006 mini uses the same lugs and everything...

Thank you.

I have the same "problem", and asked my mechanic about it. He stated to me that, yes, you can use the 15" wheel, but to be sure to move it to the rear of the car [even if the flat is on the front...meaning you would have to change 2 wheels around and not just one].

so long as the outside diam. is the same or very close ; the onil problem would be handling . the run flats are of course waaaay stiffer . you'd do well to can them all together and go with a green slime kit which includes a small compressor .

Sounds like a great idea. Will make a better spare than the stock
mini-spare donut 15" tire, a bit bulkier, but not too much heavier.

I have an MC with the spare, but someone slashed my rear left sidewall
3 days ago (16" Bridgestone S-03s in 205/50/16 - no longer available).
I have one of my winter tires on that corner now (15" holey with Michelin
Artic Alpin in 195/60/15) until I can get a pair of Dunlop SP Sport Maxx's
mounted in a couple days. Actually got a set of 4 ($50 rebate) and will wait
for next spring to replace the other two S-03s. This was to be their last season
before replacement anyway.
You can certainly tell the difference between a hard left turn and a hard right
turn with 3 summer tires and one winter, so you still have to be careful.
