HID headlight help

I have an 03 MCS w/only 30,000 miles on it. About 4 months ago when I turned on my HID's I noticed the left one did not come on. At that point I turned the lights off, opened the hood, removed the rubber dust cover on the light and wiggled the connection. When the lights were turned back on they both worked. This has to be done too often now and was wondering if anyone can offer a suggestion to cure this dilemma. I have already removed the connector and sanded the contacts but it didn't seem to help.

Thanks,

Craig

Mine does the same thing, but its more pronounced in cold or damp weather. There are 2 basic ways to remedy this without going to the dealer. 1. Try to replace the bulb. Not cheap, D2R's are about $150 a piece. Or 2, see if replacing the ballast does anything. From the dealer the ballast is I think 400. You can get an online replacement for about $100-150. Or, you can do what I do. Live with turning them on and off until they both click on and wait until it dies for good.

It's very unlikely that the bulb is going bad, especially if it still turns on. It's more likely to be an issue with the ballast, or with the connections to the ballast. Check the grounds especially, ballasts can be very sensitive to not getting enough power.
