Garage Lift?

Garage Lift?
Well, if I have my way, I'll soon have a home with a garage. Looks like the Garage is going to be a wee bit on the small side though.
Top to bottom I mean. Wide enough for two, but not as high as some in the states. Anyhow, I'd like to get a lift so I can work on my Mini whenever I'd like. I think my first project may be to put some anti-rust paint or something or other (still working out the details) on the bottom. Anyhow, anyone know of or can recommend a lift that is both small garage and Mini friendly?

I have a buddy who's family fits 4 cars in a garage with room for 2.5. They have a small lift that they have in the garage, but it looks to me like your garage might be a little bit lower. Unfortunately that may pose your biggest problem, as it seems there isnt a lot of head room in your new garage.
It is a four post lift, so install was easy and it works wonders for their garage space. (Although I'm not at liberty to say what is stored in there other than an Accord DD...there are no MINIs in there .)
I'll find out tomorrow what kind of lift it is, it is a little late here on the east coast for me to be calling people.

In the olden days before hydraulic lifts were affordable, people used to just dig a pit in their garage to allow them to stand under the parked car (yes, even oil change shops were like this). Low rails (like a carwash) on the sides of the hole prevent parking accidents, and a stairway in the front could provide easy access. Like ramps, it doesn't allow working on anything that requires taking the wheels off, but it would certainly avoid the no headroom problem.
Or you could always put the lift in the driveway since they are weather resistant.

Wagnbat,
Where abouts in Guam are you? Looks familiar. If you get a chance go over to Saipan. They have great beaches. Soft white sand. No coral! You can walk without cutting your feet. I have a buddy that lives there, so if you go he can show you around.
Back to the question at hand. Here is the lift I have installed in my garage. It looks like it would fit in yours. If so, PM me and I will send you the details on where to buy.

Ya, I saw some neat lifts during my 5 years in DC, but no one I knew personally, and I didn't have a garage nor did I think I would be getting one, so I never really thought about it at the time.
Dunno about putting a lift in the driveway... But there's no HOA, so maybe. Hrmmm... Or maybe a second garage?
EDIT:
Disregard... Apparently all the good garage & lift info is already stickied... In the detailling forum? Weird place for it, but oh well..

you need a kwiklift . it tares down easily and is adjustible to wheel base and track with the additional bridges you can remove wheels . i got a chance to check one out at the hershey show last week and i'm sold . you can't stand under it . it's for creeper work but is perfect hight for this (i tried it out) .it's so simple ,yet very clever.
