Air conditioner/overheating Help!

It seems that my AC button starts to flash when I'm in traffic, then cuts out completely. Is this due to overheating , any suggestions would be appreciated, [I'm a newbie].

Sounds like it needs to be charged.

When the car overheated, it may have caused the AC to also overheat. Typically the until will vent the freon to keep the compressor from being destroyed. This happened in another one my older cars. I would have the AC serviced to see if the problem goes away.

Most likely your radiator fan is not working. Check fuse F05 in the underhood fuse box. If it is blown, chances are you have a siezed power steering fan. There are a number of threads addressing this issue. Problems like this begin to show up as summer approaches and people begin using their a/c more.

Greatbear hit it on the head - had the same problem myself. When moving, there's anought airflow to keep the radiator cool. In stop and go, it can't keep the engine cool 'nuff. You will probably see your temp gauge top out, and the engine run rough..

Replace the fuse and get the fan fixed ASAP...

You guys were right by the way, just checked it, the fuse was blown. I guess I will make that trip to the dealer.
