Something odd with my mini's boot-lid.

Its a 2003 MCS and just over a month ago, it became difficult to open the boot lid. Sometimes it won't open at all and sometimes it will open but open only 2mm so I can't even close it underless I try the release string inside the car.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

 

damaged switch on the rear handle or the latch itself. most definitely the rear habdle switch.

 

suggestion only.. get new struts.. I also have a 2003. Recently at the Dragon i had a power steering pump problem that caused me to have to disconnect the battery. if i would pop the hatch by the emergency release. It would pop out but relatch at the first saftey hook. this is when the door sits out about 2mm. Same thing would happen if i used the back handle release and wasnt pulling at the same time (when battery was hooked up). I've put on a set of new Struts and it fixed the problem.
