yea i am replacing the pump this sunday it should have came in today...lasted me 75000 miles. but its been shot for a week now just the other day the power steering fan didn't shut off though.

 

Stupid question, but where is the power steering res. located? My owners manual doesnt state... I lost my power on the way to work today... I cant afford a new power steering anything, and I am out of warranty =0( I need to check the fluid...

 

Cooper or MCS? I'm not sure it makes a huge difference, other than what we say the resevoir is next to.

It's a black, ball shaped container with a screw lid on top of it. Located right up against the firewall / windshield.

 

Whatever you do, don't just use any power steering fluid to top up. It is a synthetic fluid and BMW uses Pentosin CHF 11S. BG also makes a universal synthetic fluid. The auto part stores may have caught up, but last time I looked here in Fresno, CA, it wasn't easy to find.

Hey Steve (my hero)- its Janet... I called the dealer and they said it is electrical and needs to be replaced... I also knew about the CHF 11S- I am going to call the audi dealership here because those cars need it too- if I need it.

 

Hi Janet! I'm sorry to hear about the PS pump. They aren't cheap so I hope your dealer likes you. I hope your front strut is still hanging in there, too. You do drive your MINI.
