Windscreen (Windshield) Recommendations
Windscreen (Windshield) Recommendations
I am about ready to replace my windscreen and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good glass company in St. Louis. I am not thrilled about putting another MINI windscreen in its place as the original was not that great (seems soft). I had saw some post in California that recommended a company called PPG. If they have a shop here that may be worth a look. So does anyone have an opinion.
I'm eager to hear what anyone has to say. My windshield has become totally pitted with all the construction work on 270, and now I have my first major rock chip. Mine doesn't need replacement anytime soon, but you never know.

I've ethier heard of OEM replacement, or PPG; or far more frequently OEM then PPG.
Here's a link I do believe they are nationwide, they have an installer locator.

I replaced my windshield with PPG Glass. We had issues with my rain sensor at first, but we have worked them out.
Call Chad at Archway Auto Glass. [SIZE=-1](314) 849-3111 He is super to work with. Tell him Brian with the Blue MINI sent you.

safelite did the worst job ever on mine. they broke parts and said i'd be fine riding around with tape on my windows until the parts showed up. The parts were at the dealership but they had to wait 4 days for a check from safelite to cover the broken parts. Ask your replacement tech if they've ever done a MINI. If not tell them to send someone who has. Warn your insurance company that if it is not done correctly by safelite you want it done right at the dealership. The dealership charges 800+ and it's done correctly.
good luck.
good luck.

I've had a replacement OEM from Autohaus put in AND a PPG from Kirkwood glass. (Yes, I've had to replace the windsheild twice due to rocks
)
I think the PPG is way better. It seems harder. It does have some pitting going on, but not like the OEM.
Just my $0.02.

Thanks for all your recommendations
I decided on Kirkwood Glass Company and was pleased with the experience. The guys in the shop were excellent. I can not tell you how nice it is to look out your windshield and see clearly.
