Lots of little dings. You really have to look at it to see them. I'll find out more tomorrow.

Nothing is better than the factory finish. If it can be repaired by paintless dent removal that is your best bet

My 02 MINI was pelted in the hail of 03, and I had Autohaus do both the paintless removal and put an entire new roof on (too many dings). There was absolutely no difference in the finish, even under really good light. The car was literally good as new.

The insuracne adjuster will probably just spec paintless on the whole thing regardless. Just make sure you specify that you want Autohaus to do the repair. They will make sure it is done right.

I need to look at my car, but I think I got away clean. The hail in U City was pea sized or smaller.

Okay. got the insurance estimate and went to Autohaus this morning. Can't do dentless on the roof. Evidently not enought to replace the roof. Wants to 'repair' it. I hate to have body work. Just wondering which is better. Live with the dents or have it repaired. Since the car is black, they aren't that noticeable. Opinions please.

I got pelted in the hail storm (Florissant is such a hail magnet. The one day I'm off-site and have to park NOT in a covered space... and I get it.)

State Farm's adjustment was low, according to Autohaus. The car goes in on Tuesday and they are going to work with the insurance to get it all covered.... should be able to do paintless on most of it, roof is questionable because of how they reinforce it.

Will keep you posted. I hope they don't screw up my boot stripes!

Sorry to hear......we got hail damage in Springfield also. I was lucky to have my car in the garage.
The insurance co's always write the initial estimate for hail damage low, because so many people don't fix the damage. If the car is in a shop the ins. will then give the shop additional $ to do the repair properly. If repairs aren't done then the ins. co. gets by cheaper.
As long as you take your car to a good quality shop it doesn't mater if some of the repair is paintless & some conventional it will all look good in the end.
However with a black roof & slight hail damage the summer heat will make the dents smaller & some will go completely away.

Hail today, gone tomorrow!

Well, I got Spike back tonight after two long weeks of driving a full-size Chevy 4x4. Talk about a parking nightmare!

Autohaus did an excellent job, even took care of one non-hail-related ding. They did a great job detailing the inside as well (guess you kind of have to when you take the interior apart.) Boot stripes look great and they even kept my googly eyes in the cOOper.

Best of all, when I was trapped on 170 trying to get there, I called and they agreed to wait for me if it was past close. Thank goodness!

The best part about getting hailed on was realizing how much I really like my car and how happy I am now that it's back!

I did forget to ask though, how long before I can wax or clay.... will have to call them on that.

Amanda
