Tire Shopping

Howdy all,
I am shopping for new summer tires. I have narrowed my choices down to:

BFGoodrinch g-Force Sport
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
Toyo Proxes T1-S

How are the road conditions in the summer? If don't get large amounts of rain, I am leaning towards the G-Force Sport. If you do get allot of summer rain then the F1's might win out. I am looking for performance, traction, and low road noise. Pretty much the best of all worlds. I don't want to spend allot of money and I already have good winter tires. Any past exp with tires in the St Louis area will help allot.

Thanks and see yall soon.
Jason

Hello Jason,

After discussing the same topic with many other drivers, I went with BFG KDW2's. A very nice performance/street tire for the price. I also seriously considered Michelin PE2's, and Yoko ES100's. The F1's are great tires, but a few more $$$.

Thanks,
Elmer

I haven't driven the G-force...

But I like the goodyears better than the T1s. The T1s was a bit better in turn in, but the Goodyear was better for me in every other way.

FWIW...

I bought a set of the g-Force Sports last Friday. I drove some back roads over the weekend and I really like them. They provide good performance at a great price and meet my everyday driving requirements. They turned quickly and gripped has hard as I needed and they were quiet and smooth riding. I got them in 205/50/16 and switched from 205/45/17. In comparision to the stock runflats these tires were a huge improvement in everyway. I might try some higher performance tires on lighter wheels for trackdays but for backroad driving I wasn't lacking for performance with these tires.

I put on a set of Goodyear F1 GS-D3 a few weeks ago and so far I am very impressed with the improved ride over runflats and the handling. They stick like glue no matter what the road conditions, wet or dry. Also I went with a little wider tire 215/45/17 instead of the stock 205/45/17 and I was pleasantly surprized to find a much lower price for the same tire in the stock size.

I looked at the BFG KDW2's allot. I love the look of them. My concern is with the road noise. How bad is it on the MINI? I live in Germnay right now but will be moving to St Louis this summer. My crap runflats are dead so I will be putting new tires on this spring. At 100-110mph I am worried just how loud the BFG KDW2's get.

Thanks again,
Jason

Tires

I'm drving on....Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 215/45-17
My car is lowered ... so far no rubbing.
Occasionally I'll get a rub on drivers rear ...when I hit a hard bump.
Purchased em from Alex@tirerack.
Have approx 1500 miles on em.
Great everyday tire... Great traction wet/dry.
Cornering good (I preferred the T1R's f/cornering)
I have em on a set of Kosei's... nice combo

Peace,
D
