Ok, we threw in the towel and are taking our RV, now I have to find a trailer for Gunner to ride in luxury. We are staying at the Fontana village camping/RV area so we will be right there for everything plus we can probably host a night of St. Louis crowd at our RV while we are there.

We have a 36' diesel RV but no trailer/car hauler, any suggestions on places to look for one around St. Louis or within the area?

 

The great "Denver to KC to StL to Dragon" caravan in from the West.

With us will be 1 California, 2 Colorado, 1 Nebraska, a few from KC and then you all. We are overnighting somewhere at or near Doug and Donna's and then whatever the rest of you decide - or Doug, whomever the organizer is - we do on Thursday.

Last year we left E St. Louis (Illinois, actually) about 6 am and barely made it for dinner.

The dragon web site on NAM has the welcome, farewell dinners and icecream social events up now. Who is planning to attend those? They are a little pricey but if everyone is looking to attend them we would probably tag along.

attends the Welcome and Farewell dinners, if not for the food, for the giveaways. That is how I got my new Wilwood Big Brakes. Won 'em at the Dragon last year.

Some will do Ice Cream, some will do Cigar Salon, some will do Beer Swap (Lois).

Anyway, after 2+ long days of driving, having someone else make dinner is frankly - - a good idea. Truly 'Welcome'.

Roger that sounds great. I'm looking forward to seeing that many MINI owners in one location. How many made it to the dragon last year? I see we are over 300 now by the count on NAM.

Like Jonathan says, it's nice having dinner ready for you when you get there. I'll probably be attending the farewell dinner for sure, the welcome dinner is still up in the air. Even if you don't buy the dinner you can still hang out & meet everyone however

We are in I signed up for both dinner's yesterday through NAM so we will see everyone there and get to meet the other MINI owners from around the country.

I got called a "little red gocart" this morning coming into my work parking by the gate guard. I'm starting to like the unique descriptions people come up with for my MINI.

Nice trailer, I've seen a bunch of teardrops and that looks sharp. Are you going to be camping down at the Dragon? If so we will look you up in the camping area, we'll have a Discovery RV with Missouri plates and Gunner in tow on a trailer.

 

Can someone whos going to the dragon pick up some black dragon decals for me? Two matching sets... of each of these so that the dragon faces forward when applied to each side of the car. I wish I can go but I cant...

Ya I know... but they dont carry the ones I want... especially the MINI one.

 

I will be there. However, because the tear is so small I have been asked to stay in the drive at the 5280 cabin. I plan on having many visitors over the duration of the event so feel free to stop by.

 

Just wanted to know if we are all going to get together while we are down there as a group from St. Louis? If so how are we going to contact each other or set a time as to when and where to meet? do we want to exchange cell phone numbers or have a freq on twoway radios to get on?

One other question for those that have gone to the Dragon before, does the cell phone services all work in that area, I have Verizon but digital phone only, my wifes is anolog and digital. Looking at there map there are some areas of analog only right around Fontana village area.

BTW, cell phones don't work in Fontana, at least last year. Need to leave the area for service.

I wanted to do this, but its looking like there isn't going to be a place to sleep anywhere near the event. Maybe next year I will remember to watch out for it. Oh well. =(

 

Call Fontana and get on a wait list. They will call you if something opens. There are still 33 days before we depart. You never know you may get lucky.
Check with the other places around the Dragon also. Hope you make it. If not meet up with us that eve when we are in STL.

 

Thanks, but checking with HR and what vacation time I have left. (I just started less then a year ago), I just don't have the days to do them all! So I am going to do MitM, my brother lives in Denver so that would be cool to see him, and give him MINI overload.
