The MINIster of Events Update (09/16/04)

Hello again fellow Motorists! While the summer may be coming to a wrap, the Motorin' Season isn't quite ready to call it a day. But then again, does it ever? This volume of the Events Update brings some exciting news to the club, so let's get on with it.

Looking for a few good men (and women!)
As we have now grown to over 150 members, Aaron, Mike and myself sat down this week to look at where the club has come from, and where it is headed. And if you are going to look at where it's headed, we decided we needed a Steering Committee (this is a motorin' club afterall!). So we are looking for some members up to the challenge!Actually it's not really much of a challenge, we're just looking for all those enthusiastic members who would like to offer some input, and guidance, into the future of the club.

So what does this involve? Well not much really! One evening between October 19th & 21st, as is most agreeable to those interested, we are going to get together for a couple hours and have an informal discussion about where we've been, and where we're headed. From this, our goal is to find 5-6 members interested in doing this on a quarterly basis (one evening in October, January, April, and July), as well as start planning for the future.

So if you are interested, please e-mail any one of us at:

Paul stlminievents@sbcglobal.net
Aaron aaron@stlmini.com
Mike mike@stlmini.com

And let us know available dates, as well as if there is something particular we should discuss!

Happy Hours
Last night's Happy Hour at the Boathouse in Forest Park was a great time and a great success! To those that attended, Jenna, 'Drew and myself had a great time. To those that missed it, you missed a great time, weather, and food.

Last night's was the last one we had arranged on the calendar, but it's not the last one we are going to have. We are looking for any member interested to setup a happy hour. Very little work is involved! Simply chose a place (depending on the place, you may want to let them know), chose a date (we've been arranging around the 3rd week of the month, and preferably on a Tues., Wed., or Thurs.), and a time (typically between 6 and 7PM, and wraps up around 8-9PM.) and e-mail Aaron, Mike, or myself the information!

The Great Balloon Race get together sponsored by MINI of St. Louis
Unfortunately, the 9/18 event has been cancelled and replaced by a separate Oktoberfest Wine Run. Stay tuned for more information!

The 2nd Annual Missouri Southern Road Rally on October 16th!
We are inching closer towards the date, and are just a month away now! We have over 20 MINIs RSVPd already for this event, and it looks like we'll have more than last year attending! It is also looking like we will have sponsorships from at least a couple of places, and have 'door' prizes for everyone, and a giveaway for some greate gifts. This year we'll be starting directly from St. Louis and there will be 10 miles of Interstate driving! We'll be driving roughly 30% of last years road (and only the best 30%), and augmented by 70% new road (only as good as the best)! So if you thought last year was fun, you definitely don't want to miss this years. For more information, or to RSVP, check out:

The 3rd Annual Brits in the Ozarks All British Car & Cycle Show
October 9th is Brits in the Ozarks Car Show featuring the finest Minis, Triumphs, MGs, Jags and more. For more information on this event, check out:

Latest Installment of the Phil Wicks Driving Academy
October 3rd brings the Phil Wicks Driving Academy back to Gateway International. Several MINI club members have all ready signed up for this great event, and openings still remain. This event is also co-sponsored with the Ferrari Club. For more information check out:

And with that, it's time to resume your Motoring!
