The Saint Louis Mini Club fall Rallye will be Nov. 3rd. We will be meeting at Phillips 66 at I-55 and MO 32 (Saint Genevieve exit) at 10:00 a.m. Roll out at 10:30 so don't be late.

It should be about a 3 hour cruise thru the country side with a few "pit stops" and then ending at a suprise location for lunch.

 

I hear we may get our picture taken along the way too!

I just joined the club and got the email about this yesterday. I don't think I'll be able to make it on short notice, but I'm curious. Is this a timed Rallye with average speed calculated, etc. or just a run? I assume at least with the surprise lunch location you are given turn by turn directions without knowing where you are going beforehand. As you can tell, I'm not very familiar with these events. The first and last rallye I participated in was over 40 years ago. It was a University of Tennessee Sports Car Club Rallye and my navigator (who was also a rookie) and I took second place. Beginner's luck.

 

I don't think any of the ones we do are timed. Usually we all try to stay somewhat together, hand out directions, and use 2 way radios for basic communication.

 

No timed rallyes for us, just a drive down some twisty scenic roads. Sometimes at a spirited pace and sometimes at a touring pace.

What a great event. Since I am new to the club, I wondered if we would feel like an outsiders. Everbody was exceptionally friendly and made us feel welcome. We had a blast! This one event was worth the annual membership fee.

 

Kudos to the organizers! This was a superb run, and I enjoyed it considerably. I'll definitely be ordering pictures from Curvephotos; ours turned out quite nice.

The only downside to the day was the realization that the Gordonville Grill is so far from our St. Charles home. What an excellent lunch!

But again, it was a fine day out, I got some good photos (which I'll try to post on Flickr this evening), and a few in-car videos (also to be posted soon).
