MINI2 Group Passing Through...

The CA Dreamin Run will be passing through Vegas September 28 and 29. Most of us won't have MINIs because of the difficulty in driving from Ireland, roads need a bit of work.

Anyone from Sin City MINIs interested in a meet up? I'll check back on this thread regularly, but feel free to contact me anytime via PM either here or on MINI2.

Hi April.
I'm sure we can organize something. Mark (Smooth Is Quik) is the SCMC events co-ordinator and should see this soon. We have a scheduled Motor In for the 21st, maybe we can move it back a week or something?

Agro, are you the Aussie expat that Sham spoke so highly of?

Here's a link to the event thread: http://www.mini2.com/forum/uk-irelan...ow-posted.html

I should be through in August too, the fuzzy hubby has a GP on order with Monterey delivery. Then we will be driving it in the MTTS run, which has a stop in LV.

I am an Aussie, and I met up with Sham when he was in Vegas. Took him for a cruise down the Strip in my MINI. I rarely check MINI2 so I wasn't aware that he was recommending me. But I'm glad he enjoyed his visit.

I haven't heard any details on the MTTS visit, but keep me in the loop on what's happening and we may be able to meet up then too.

While on Mizen to Malin last year, a few of us came up with the idea of doing a run with a difference.
Basically, the plan was to take in San Francisco, Highway 1 / Pacific Coast , Los Angeles, Las Vegas / Grand Canyon on a MINI Run, probably around September 2006.
Just want to put this idea out there at an early stage to see how many people might be interested, to investigate the logistics of the run, hire MINI availability, hotels, routes etc.
Jimskater was on MtM, so he has good local knowledge obviously, and I’m sure input from all other US members would be appreciated.
So fire away, all ideas appreciated !
Even though this trip started primarily as a Europe to the US idea, all MINIs are welcome, and actually encouraged - we would like nothing better than to have the local folk on board, and I imagine some may only want to do part of the run, perhaps, and some may like to do all. All are welcome ! :D
An itineary will be posted in the first post when details are finalised.

Hotel details will also be posted here, which everyone can obviously book direct, again, when details are finalised.

1. AidenL & DeniseL - Aiden & Denise - Ireland - Confirmed
2. Irlmin - Gerard - Ireland - Confirmed
3. Aprilwhine & Jim Ray - Sherry & Jim- USA - Confirmed

Hotel details as follows:

Okey-dokey - after a lot of head-scratching and a lot of digging by Sherry, heres the outline of the hotels closen for the trip.
Some are budget only in some areas, and there are a few upmarket options in the cities also, as well as mid-market and budget choices.
Hope you all find something to suit, but I think we have catered to everyones taste.
Thanks again to Sherry for all her hard work on this.
We would suggest booking the Yosemite and Grand Canyon lodgings asap, as they seem to fill up VERY fast !

Awwww!!!!! How sweet you are!! Sorry, I haven't checked NAM in a while - here I am asking for info and it's all right here! 9/27 & 9/28 - will keep those dates open for all of you.

See, like I said, our club members are awesome! I volunteered them on MINI2 forum without even telling them about any of this, and here they are on NAM volunteering themselves. I'm sure they would love to do a club meet/run.

I'm meeting up with Agro tomorrow morning (he's putting in an auto-up circuit for me so I can get my windows to go up automatically w/out having to hold the switch down!) and I will discuss all this with him.

Please - let me know if there's anything else you would like or need me to find out for you!

Aiden is a sweetheart, he reposted all the info from MINI2 so you guys wouldn't have to search for it.

If SC MINIs gets involved with MTTS in August, we'll meet you then, otherwise see you in September! Post info either here or MINI2, I'm going to check both threads regularly.

When going through Goleta, plan to stop at Moss Motors. Largest Brit Car Parts supplier (Mini's too) in North America.

If you do Yosemite, give us a yell. We live a couple hours from Yosemite (moving to Pahrump next year), and might be able to act as tour guides. We go there a few times a year. BTW, Highway 140 (middle route) to Yosemite has been closed for awhile, and into the foreseeable future because the side of the mountain decided to take a rest on the road.

We also know the "Gold Country" and it's wineries VERY well, the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, and pretty much anything in Northern CA. We can help there too.

Keep me posted on your plans for Los Angeles. I live/work pretty close to LAX and we can probably also organize a local MINI get together nearby while you guys are in town.

Thanks Dave and Gromit!

Gromit, what's the story on Tioga pass? We were planning on taking that over to US 95. I got an email today saying it's now open? That seems awfully late.

Dave, shouldn't you be in Denver?

Gromit...are you Jim who I've been emailing back and forth today? Welcome.

April, if you spent more time here and less on MINI2, you'd know that Dave moved to LA over a year ago!

Argo: Yep, that be me.

April: Tioga Pass is open. A lot later than usual, but the Sierra's had a very late winter. Also known as Hwy-120, which goes right through Manteca. BTW, take the new Priest Grade when traveling up from Hwy-49 going east on Hwy-120. Longer but winding!

BTW, too darned bad the tour won't coinside with the massive Mini attendance this year at the Monterey Historics in August.

Agro, can't spend less time on MINI2, I love it there. MINI2 is full of filthy perverted posters from all over the world.

Check this thread, it started in ICE but wound up in banter:

Gromit, yep too bad MINIUSA didn't take into account our tour when they planned the Monterey thing. CA Dreamin was planned a good six months before MTTS.

That sounds like a good route variation, I'll have to add it to our trip. Thanks!

April, providing we have our Mini in time, we'll try to join the tour for the areas around us. The delivery date of our Mini and your tour almost coincide! Great way to break it in!

Dave, the first night we're going to get together for drinks and face time at the Georgian Hotel in Malibu. Stop by if you have the time?

April,

I think you mean Santa Monica, not Malibu (Georgian Hotel). It's right down the street from me. Maybe I'll learn something about my area though, and find out there's one in Malibu too.

September 22nd is clear for me, so I'll plan on seeing you there. Do you have an approximate time in mind? I may drag a few MINI friends along too.

Dave
