Hey everyone... my friend with the Vortex Beetle, my GF, and myself had a fun drive!

I was the one with the black/black Cooper S that took off after the classic Cobra's, the Pantera, and modified Miata's.

I caught them, and I am sure they were suprised to see a MINI in their rear views

Unfortunately, they continued on the 76 when I had to make the left on to the South Grade. I stopped at the lookout point ½ way up with the Beetle, and not 1min after we stopped, 2 dark silver MCS came tearing up the hill. We followed in chase, and caught up to them. It was fun to see some people that truly wanted to get a move on and push the MCS to its limits.

We were the first to Mother's Kitchen at the top, and when the 'parade' showed up, we headed for Palomar Observatory to look around inside and see the 200" telescope. The parking lot is also MUCH bigger up there, and would have been better for pictures in my honest opinion. About 8 MINI's followed us up there, and they all seemed to enjoy seeing the observatory up close.

We then headed down the East Grade and were able to catch 2 yellow Coopers with decals all over them. The one in front of me seemed to be having fun weaving around in the lane. Near the bottom, however, I was catching the smell of brakes, and the 2 Coopers pulled off to the side. I hope everything was OK, and that they were checking out the scenery, not stopping for brake failure!

We then caught a late group headed for the Julian Bakery and rejoined with the group. We were able to meet up with one of the DS MCS owners (Craig I think?!) and motored up to Julian with him. We got lunch at the BBQ place right as you get into Julian, and then walked around a bit to enjoy the scenery.

By this time, everyone had already left for Harrah's and we just did a back-track down the 78, to the 79, down the 76. Once we reached the 15, we took Craig down Old Highway 395 to Camino Del Rey, a small, but smooth and twisty local back road that we frequent. From there we hit the 76 west and escorted Craig as far as the San Luis Rey Mission. We gave him directions to the 5 north and that was the end of our adventure.

I have done too many Palomar - Julian - Sunrise Highway runs to count with the San Diego BMW group, so this was a nice change from the usual. It seemed more like a cruise.. heh heh.

Well, anyways, it was fun and nice to see so many MINI's in one place!

Catch ya all on the road!

PS... Craig - message/email me sometime!
