"StormCooper"? Not exactly what you would call a politically correct name...

Politics has nothing to do with it !!!!

History has tried hard to teach us that we can't have good government under politicians. Now, to go and stick one at the very head of the government couldn't be wise.

-Mark Twain 1876

WHAT IS POLITICALLY CORRECT? SO WHEN DID WE START LETTING POLITICIANS TELL US HOW TO LIVE...................

Hey, I'm not a big fan of politicians either, but if you look a little deeper into your history books than Star Wars you'd understand how this name could deeply offend some people...

The Name is the Name,

The name is the name not the person or the action, if people are to shallow to see the name for what it is then the can go cry and be offended in the corner. I am tired of caring about everyones feelings. If you, or a relative are Jewish, over 60 years old, and were in a prison death camp. I am truly sorry, but that is not what the name means. If you live in the twentieth century, then you will know that your gripe lies with a name George Lucas reused. And If hitler's SS drove Mini Cooper "S"'s that looked like George Lucas's StormTroopers then there may be some grounds for your argument. Oh ya by the way I guess I would have to be German and spell it germanic as well. You are way to concerned. I do not play politically correct games. Like I said I will not let any politician tell me how to live my life. So if you have a problem maybe you should write a letter to Lucas arts and start a protest campaign. There is far more evil out there, lawyer's for example.

Hmm, does that mean I have to throw out all my Star Wars DVD's and books? I sure hope there is nothing offensive about Star Trek (Those Borg always did look a little German to me with their mechanical precision). I sure would hate to part with that.

Didn't go to AMVIV II....just got our MCS on 2.22 from Classic Mini in Mentor, Ohio and did a two week trip driving it back to Ojai! Already have 3950 miles on it. It is a CR/CR MCS with Bullets. I am really enjoying it. I am actually going to write-up a review of my first two weeks and post it...it will have a bunch more info.

I know of three other Mini owners in Ojai...would be fun to arrange a drive from through Ojai, up 33 north to 166 west in Cuyama out to 101 at Santa Maria and then down to SB for a meal. We have to wait just a bit as there is a slide on 33 that is being cleared after all the rain. This time of year would be great as the flowers will be in bloom and the terrain we'll be seeing will be beautiful.

Don't worry about it

I can't believe you refer to your car as "Cooper". SOME PEOPLE find that DEEPLY OFFENSIVE. Look a little further in your history books than MINI history - haven't you heard of Cooper and Worsham v. Savannah? Where they tried to tax free blacks to "prevent the increase of persons of color in [Savannah]"? Maybe you don't want any blacks near your car, is that it? You should be ashamed of yourself.

Hey Storm - don't worry about the PC nonsense on here. Take another look - you'll see your critic is from Berzerkley

And damn proud of it, man. The home of America's conscience.

Dude, of course you're free to call your car whatever you want. Just wanted to make sure you were aware of the particularly dark resonances of that specific name. Sounds like you are, and they just don't bother you. Not the kind of thing to joke about in my book but, if it works for you, that's cool...

Hmmm, now, what could I call myself the home of...? Something self righteous and catchy, perhaps?

The home of the few and the proud? NO, the Marines took that one.
The home of flying high? Damn Air Force, they got that one.
The home where the buffulo roam? Well, that would just me silly in LA.
I know, The Home of America's reason. Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket....

Jeez, I intended the "conscience" thing to come across as sarcastic, not self-righteous at all. I mean, it's obvious that no one gives a damn about what we here in the "people's republic" have to say, right?

But, if you're going to continue hammering away, then I would posit that pure reason without moral conscience is a very dangerous thing. You need em both.

No. We shouldn't "ban" any car names. Ok, except for maybe the Daewoo Nubira. That one's clearly evil.

I would vote to ban all the Scion names: xB, xA, tC.

Are people buying cars, or doing math?

A drive is in Order.....

It sounds like we need to plan a little drive. I do agree that we wait until all the mud and road work are done. The 150 is a great drive, we can link that to foothill through SB to the Pass, then out through Santa Ynez. End up at a winery (Don't want to drink and Drive however). Limited tasting is OK!

I do agree that spring is a good time for this! Maybe sometime next month.

Xalfa; I'm glad you have a conscience. I do as well, but like most americans I am ready and willing to fight, the first person that tries to tell me what to do or how to live! If I were really a **** I would have made my name something like "NAZILVR" or "SS 4 EVR".

Ok, now that the PC stuff is out of the way, let's Motor. Storm you are the lead man on this as you are local to SB and seem to know what you are talking about. So line them up and lets get it going.

HEY HEY HEY!!! STORMCOOPER!!! You were behind me at the beginning of the AMVIV poker rally. I was the one who asked you what your plate meant, and you flashed me your imp tshirt.

I play StarWars Galaxies sometimes... cap stormtroopers all the time.

Sweet Plates man. Sweet Car.
