May have found a San Diego stripe installer!

I know there have been a couple of us looking for places to have Cooper Flags stripes installed in San Diego, now I think I've found one.

They are called Modern Images, on Production in the Miramar area. I have an appointment for tomorrow morning (weather permitting), so hopefully my checkerboard stripe will finally get out of its box and onto my MINI.

I'll be sure to post pics and let everybody know how it goes. Cross your fingers for another inaccurate weather forecast, though, it's supposed to be raining...

Another option is Steven Du at Custom Graphics on Ronson Road in Kearny Mesa (just past the UPS facility). He did a good job installing my Union Jack.

Finally got my stripes installed by Modern Image. Rico did a good job with the install, but misled me about removing my factory stripes. I asked him to remove them, but it was cloudy and he thought they would need to soak up some heat to be easy to remove. So for the next couple weeks I had my old stripes and the new ones (my apologies to anyone who had to see my car looking so busy!). Anyway, the other day I just got my fingernail under the top edge of one of the stripes, and it just peeled right off. Pulled the other one off the same way with very little adhesive residue underneath.

Here's a pic - it's a strange angle, but I wanted to show the roof and the bonnet in one shot.

If it needed heat, why didn't he just use a heat gun? That is what we used to do when I used to work in a body shop?

It was Saturday - he probably just wanted to go home. Actually he said that even with the heat gun, having the car in the sun makes all the difference in the world.

Considering my car was only in the sun for about 45 minutes before I peeled the stripes off, I don't think that's the case. Maybe he is used to stickier vinyl or something.

The new stripes look great! I was told by Brecht MINI that these are the people that do all the clear bra installs for them. I have an appointment with them to FINALLY get mine done (reinstalled) after the Cabrio was keyed. Haven't been able to do it because of all this stinkin rain we've had every weekend...
