Wanted to get the word out that Speed Ventures (www.speedventures.com) will be hosting a MINI Challenge at Streets of Willow on Saturday, December 5th……..first time for our beloved MINIs.

For those of you familiar with SV, they currently run a few different challenge series which give drivers the opportunity to compete against their fellow brethren in a time challenge event. During the day, you will have your normal run sessions and your best times from those earlier sessions will determine your starting order in the challenge. Then there will be an additional session later in the day to get two open timed laps to show your stuff. (And no this is not wheel to wheel racing.)

To sign up for the MINI challenge, make sure to sign up for timing and then indicate “MINI Challenge” in the comments field during the sign up process. For this first event there is no additional charge, just the regular track fees, really a bonus of a couple extra open laps on the track.

Below is a points system to help differentiate between the street cars and the race cars (even if they still drive them on the street…….we know who you are). Convertibles are allowed.

Tell your friends, or people you just want to beat at the track.

Modified Class

AERO
0.00 = OEM
0.25 = air dam bumper, any add-on lip, wind deflector
0.50 = rear diffuser
1.00 = level 1 wing (add on lip on factory)
1.50 = level 2 wing (replacement of OEM to large wing)

TIRE/WHEEL
0.75 = level 1 street tires (RT615, RS2, MX, CSC3, PS2)
1.00 = tires 225 or wider
1.50 = level 2 street tires (Z1, AD07, RE01R, R1R, 595RSR, NT05, RE070)
2.50 = R-comp (RA1, R888, NT01, A048, PSC)
3.00 = full slick (Hooser Avon R1)

POWER
0.25 = non-oem intake system or any mods to OEM intake (including filter, snorkel, or piping)
0.25 = non-oem header
0.25 = cat-back exhaust
0.50 = pulley
0.75 = ECU
0.75 = methanol
1.50 = engine internal mods
2.00 = replacement of stock superchager

SUSPENSION
0.50 = non coilover using camber plates or non-oem rear arms
1.00 = non-coilover suspension includes spring or shock replacement
2.50 = coilover suspension one way adjustable dampening
3.50 = two way adjustable dampening coilovers

DRIVETRAIN
0.50 = gear type LSD includes OBX Quaiffe
1.00 = clutch type LSD includes OEM

WEIGHT REDUCTION
0.25 = passenger seat/rear seat removal
0.25 = door panel and rear panel removal
0.50 = heater core DASH MUST REMAIN IN VEHICLE

The mini hasn't been out there for a while, although i was just out there last week and ran a 1:22.4 in my vette, so my skills should be sharpened.
