Who has an Ed Hanson exhaust?
I talked with Ed Hanson, of Ed Hanson's Muffler Service in Spring Valley, today about getting an exhaust for my MCS. He said he has worked on several MCSs, and was just installing a system today.
Ed seems like a great guy, very knowledgeable and experienced, and he called my today after I sent him an email last night. Plus the price is great at $620 installed for a 2.5" exhaust with resonator, Dynamax mufflers and custom stainless steel tips.
I love the idea of getting something like this from a local shop as opposed to buying from a big company so I'll probably go this route, but I'd like to hear how it sounds, too. If you have one or know someone who does, please let me know. Thanks

I have been wondering the same thing. Alot of people in the West Coast Mini's have used his shop. I did the one ball mod but want a full exhaust. The main thing I do not want it to sound like a cheap ghetto honda. You know the sound.. You might be ok running just one muffler like the Alta exhaust does. Might save you some parts and labor to just run one.
I'll try to get in touch with West Coast MINIs to see if somebody could meet me somewhere to show off their exhaust.
From talking to Ed, I'm sure his exhaust doesn't sound "ricey." I think he may have specifically used that term on the phone! He also mentioned perforated inserts (or something?) that he uses to make sure you don't get an annoying drone inside the car with his exhaust. From what I saw online, Dynamax mufflers are known for being quieter than Magnaflow and Flowmasters, too. I'm worried they might be too quiet, but we'll see.

SDMike of NAM has one. I'll point him to this thread.
Several others in WCM have had custom work done as well ~ Sandy, Mark, Bob, Little Bob, Scott..... but they don't frequent NAM.
Ed has a terrific reputation, and will work with a MINIac until you get exactly the sound you want.

Ed's got a great reputation but don't let Tigs fool you mine is not that special
Basically I got the factory muffler cut out, replaced with straight pipe and new tips... that's all
but yeah go down to his shop and check his work out, he gets contracted to develop exhausts for some pretty high end stuff and he loves to be creative.
