Magical Mystery Mini Tour - Sept 5-7, 2008

So if any of you subscribe to MC2, you must now be aware of MMMT, hosted by Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts. This is a 3 day International event to be staged on Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay. This event should be one of the largest Mini-MINI events in the US in 2008, possibly eclipsing even MTTS in Los Angeles.

We have participants registered from throughout United States, Canada, Great Britain, Italy, and Japan with interested possible participants from China, Australia, and New Zealand. Group packages for hotel accomodations have been arranged, but since this is not a hotel based event, feel free to get more affordable rooms using online hotel reservation sites.

Cars can be left on Treasure Island overnight so that you can avoid costly parking at San Francisco Hotels. 24 hour security will be provided. Busses are available on a regular schedule from Treasure Island to downtown San Francisco. There are multiple runs planned throughout the weekend, on-site vendors, classic/rare car display in our Main Pavilion Tent, and a BBQ catered banquet Saturday night with a live Beatles Tribute band playing until 10pm Saturday night on the grassy field with the San Francisco skyline as a back drop. Vendors booths will be open until 10pm each night.

You won't want to miss this event! Hotel rooms will get difficult to get as we approach September, so make hotel reservations soon. Our arranged group rates are only available until July 5th... then you will be on your own finding sleeping accomodations.

For more information and registration form visit our dedicated website.

Just a reminder

The Magical Mystery Mini Tour hosted by Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts is on September 5-7, 2008 on one of the most scenic pieces of real estate in all of California, Treasure Island (in the heart of San Francisco Bay). This is sure to be one of the premier Mini-MINI events in 2008 with participants from the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan. There are live outside musical performances on both Friday and Saturday night until 10pm with the San Francisco skyline as a backdrop. The vendor village will be open daily until 10pm and the partial vendor’s list includes Mini Mania, Moss Motors, Edge Motorworks, AMCO Japan, Bay Bridge Motors, Wyvern MINI, Vinyl Styles, Hooked on Driving, MC2 and others…

We have 24 hour secured parking on Treasure Island with buses going into San Francisco twice an hour. We have a catered BBQ on Saturday night and food vendors located in the Vendors Village on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - including authentic British faire.

Want to watch a Giants vs. Pirates game at the beautiful AT&T Park? We have a group organized for the Friday night game. Want to go on a winery tour? We have tours arranged at Mario Andretti’s winery in the Napa Valley and the Gloria Ferrer Winery in the Sonoma Valley. We have runs planned for the Marin Headlands, Mount Tamalpais, Stinson Beach, Muir Woods, and the Santa Cruz Mountains

It’s not too late to register! You can register on line or download a registration form and fax it to me at (707) 433-3239 and make payment easily through paypal.

This is going to be an exciting weekend of driving and socializing. Be sure to join us.

Here is good news for those of you that have been dragging your feet!

Because of recent announcements from both Mini Mania and Moss Motors promoting the Magical Mystery Mini Tour, and extensions for the "final number of participants" given to us from our vendors; we have extended the cut-off date for registration of $100 per car until August 20th. Therefore you can continue registering using our dedicated web site until then.

After August 20th, advance registrations will no longer be accepted online but registration will be allowed at the door on the days of the event as space allows. The cost of "at the door" registration will be posted shortly. Only cash payments will be accepted on the day of the event.

Unfortunately the tee shirt order has to be placed today (August 1st) so there will be no more pre-ordering of the event tee shirts. I will have some additional tee shirts available on Treasure Island but they will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Supplies will intentionally be limited since I want them all sold before the event is over. The tee shirt option has been removed from the downloadable registration and PayPal forms.

I look forward to seeing you all having fun on this exciting weekend!

There will be a lot of Mini-MINI clubs represented at MMMT on Treasure Island! Thanks to everyone that has signed up. You'll help make this a great success! Just so you know, registration has been extended to August 20th at the same $100 per car price. There will be no additional online registrations accepted after August 20, although day of event registration may be allowed if space permits.

I want everyone to know that club members will be able to park together throughout the weekend. We will assign locations for clubs represented with "at-large attendees mixed between the clubs. Clubs will also be able to set up club tent type booths and post banners to promote their clubs at no cost if they desire, if manned by paid registrants. Club booths will be able to be set up either in the parking lot or near the vendor's village on the grass depending on space restraints. We will determine that on Thursday when we are doing our final "set-up" touches.

Wow what a weekend! What an event! Thank you to all that helped make this a huge success by attending and supporting the Northern California Mini-MINI Community .

With all the runs and off-site activities, there was no way to easily determine how successful this was until the cars starting filling up the parking lot for the banquet dinner Saturday night followed by the live concert by the Sun Kings.

We have an unofficial count of over 350 cars in the parking lot in the early evening, but the lot continued to fill after dark during the concert. There was no evening fog and just slight cool breeze making the San Francisco skyline a sparkling backdrop for the band.

Over $7000 worth of merchandise and services were awarded as door prizes during the banquet dinner, between sets at the concert, and on Sunday morning just before the Santa Cruz Mountains run. If you missed the Magical Mystery Mini Tour, you truly missed a one of a kind event!
