Albuquerque is no longer going to be without a Mini dealer. You heard it here first.
Sandia BMW just got approved for one of three new Mini franchises in the country. We expect to start building the new showroom in about a month or so, and are hoping to be open for sales in October, just in time for the new Vert model. I work in Parts at Sandia, and hope to be able to help some of you with your Mini parts and accessories in the future.

I really hope this is true. I don't see any information on Mini's web site but I will keep my fingers crossed. It would be great not to have to drive 400+ miles for service.

We've got to get a joint AZ/NM fun-run of HWY 191 (aka Coronado Trail) that sits along the AZ/NM boarder. There's 95 miles of pure twisties without that many connecting roads. Starts around Alpine, AZ and runs down to Clifton, AZ

You shouldn't see any info on the Mini site for quite awhile. This is something that just got approved in the last week. We just got the approval in writing, which means its a done deal. Come by the dealership in a month or two, and I'm sure you'll see that progress is being made on the new building. Its going to go where the used car building is right now. It will have its own service bays, as well as parts department. There are going to be some very interesting features in the new building as well, making it one of the most unique Mini dealers around. The plans are almost done, just finishing the details, and a contractor is alreay set. I've known that we we likley to get the franchise, but couldn't say anything till it was in writing.

I've always taken the road through the salt river canyon on the way to Phoenix just because I like the twists. If there was some middle ground to meet in I could round up some of the NM Mini crowd and motor that way.

Here's an update. We are planning on breaking ground in 30-45 days. Also here are some pictures of what the new buidling is going to look like.

Sandia Mini
Just go to "Projects" at the bottom.

Thanks
Andrew
