anyone recommend any stop along the way, alternate routes, etc? Any info y'all can offer would be cool. Thanks.

Take the 87 to Payson from Fountain Hills...at Payson, go east on the 260....take that to the 377 up to Holbrook, get in I-40 from there....fun route until you hit the interstate...
