Mark,

Looks like we got some dates messed up. Dominic point it out. I had said this coming Sunday Oct 12th. Sorry for the confusion!

I'll be there this Sunday with bells on (whatever that means)...and I believe minicoop might be joining us.

Robby - feel free to come along! It's a 273 mile run with a couple of stops (most probably being Payson and a rest area somewhere if we can find one!). This is a preliminary run to see how this route is so we can actually get a larger group next time if it works out. Therefore, it'll probably be full of unexpected twists, turn, but hopefully all the roads are nicely paved.

Meeting point is the Texaco station on Shea in Fountain Hills. We can hop on the 87 from there. This Sunday, 8am.

Hi Robby,

Sorry to thread hijack here. I've been to the PIR races for the last 5 years straight. I can tell you that Sunday is the least exciting of any of the four days of racing that weekend. Be sure to catch at least Saturday's Busch race and the WC final practice. It really gives you a lot of perspective on the Sunday events. If you really want to go to the best day, that would be Friday. Then you get to see Busch practice, WC practice, WC qualifying and the truck race. Quite a full day of action.

But anyways, back to the subject at hand. We'll be glad to show up around to the super motoring roads. We'll definately have to get you over to the 97/96 area. It's close, very scenic and fun to drive.

Hafid, we did have our dates mixed up. I was there Sunday morning. The Texaco discussed earlier is where motorcycle groups meet up for there rides. Needless to say they were VERY jealous of the MINI. Sorry I can't make it this weekend, off to Mexico. I am going to the AMP on 10/25-26 for the MINISpec races. Track time too. Dominic tell Becky you want to go out just to "watch" and come join us on the track. We will never tell!! Same for all, you can run on the track if you want. It only takes a few bucks. Haf.... sorry we got the dates crossed up... when you head up HWY 87 to Payson next weekend, just past Sycamore Creek, set the cruise control at 90-95 MPH and hang on.... great curvy highway to the top of the hill.

Hey Mike
The run up the hill on HWY 87 is awsome. sometimes I just go back and forth from Sycamore Crrek to the top of the hill. Excellent sweepers and you can see traffic coming so nobdy gets in your way. Last time I was up there I blasted by a Porsche.... scared him to death!!
The works is broken in and I really love it. I know there is a lot of talk about the high cost of it but I would do it all over again.
We took "The Flying Toaster" out to the track, Dominic joined us and I took him for a ride. Nothing serious but I think he had fun. Allot safer than the 12 miles of Terror we ran.
Mike... can you help me do some mods to my car for the track.. sway bar etc.??
mark

Yes Dominic...

From now on that stretch of HWY 97 is "The 12 Miles of Terror".

I am afraid next time we are up there, stopwatches will be present. The horror!!!!!

What I want is to have a navigator with a clicker. You know one of those things that you press the button and it counts one up. That way we can get an idea of the number of corners. Also have to make a run to count the number of 1.0+ gee dips and the number of 1.0- gee crests.

This is a great idea. I think we need a set of radios to communicate with each other. We need someone on either end to watch for traffic (tell us how many cars to expect) and just in case a cop decides to come down that road we can be notified. This would then mean one driver and a co-pilot who could radio back and watch the timer.

I should really look into the AZ film commission to see if we can shut down that road for a day and we can get a permit to actually film this.

I want to be sure this is safe. That's a very fun road and I don't want any accidents.

haf

that is a great idea Hafid
radios would be really smart as well
kinda like we are a group of illegal street racers
fast and furious mini style
twisty roads rather than 8 second rice burners

Yep, I saw Todd over the weekend during the BVV. He does have his new brakes and brake lines on his car.
